I have my 4th IM coming up in September and its a beach start. All my HIM's and IM's have been deep water starts and I'm a little nervous about the beach start. It IM Lake Tahoe, so there is the new line up by time thing, but still mass start.
Any tips or comments on deep vs beach, which do you like better and why etc.

before the race start walk around where you will enter - check for obstructions like rocks etc under the water surface. you might find certain areas are easier on your feet than others.

The first time I ventured into the deep murky green lake and could not see the bottom my muscles tensed and my imagined fears surfaced. What exactly lies beneath?
There are a couple of very important requirements to consider when using the water as an alternative running environment. Used properly, it will help to strengthen and rehab your legs.
