Any of yall living in Stillwater looking for a training partner. I have a background in running (Ive run two marathons in the last year) but would like to find someone to swim, bike or run with consistently. Im a 22 and a student at Oklahoma State. Im actually looking to buy my first road bike (a felt f80 or f75) here in the next couple weeks, and have a lot to learn in cycling and swimming. Later

Hi Richard ~

Welcome to BT. We have a couple of tri clubs in Oklahoma I have posted a link to the websites. There are also a couple of groups you might contact as far as cycling in Stillwater - OSU has a cycling team and also the red dirt peddlars. If you make it down to Tulsa on the weekends there are MS150 training rides both Saturday and Sunday they are free and open to anyone (you don't have to be participating in the MS150 to do the rides). The mileage increases each week and they are great rides for new cyclists.

GO POKES!!

I don't know of much going on in Stillwater anymore, but the Oklahoma Bicycle Society has weekly rides that leave from Lake Hefner (only about an hour from you). www.oklahomabicyclesociety.com/

Also, plan to make the "Run for the Thin Blue Line" in April 2007. (I think it will be the 21st?) Benifits Concerns of Police Surviors (family members that have lost someone in the line of duty.)

I am jealous you are in Stillwater!

Hey thanks Steph for the upcoming races and clubs. I dont think I will be able to do the April race because I plan to run the OKC Memorial marathon which is one of those weekends in April. Maybe I can make it down to OKC some weekend and go riding with your groups

Unfortunately it doesnt appear many people in Oklahoma are active on BT

Won't be in Norman if you are doing it...KICK BUTT!

We just joined tri-okc. They always have something going on and the folks are awesome! It is only $15.00 for a single membership and $20.00 for family.

If you make it to OKC ever, let us know!

I live in Stillwater and would like to do some long rides/runs on the weekends if you would be at all interested. If you are interested you can email me at [email protected]. I try to do most my workouts in the morning before the roads get too busy but I am flexible.

Hello all,

Just looking around this website and noticed this thread. I am a 24 year old male student here in Stillwater.

Starting to get my flab back into shape. Did the military gig for a couple 5 years but for the last 2 years have hardley done anything that would qualify for exercise. So I figure a triathlon would be a good carrot to motivate me to get it in gear.

Doing running, swimming, and stationary bike using one of the 16 week sprint plans available on this site. Normally jog the treadmill at Colvin Rec Center or do a lap around Boomer Lake. Swimming and stationary bike done at the Colvin Rec Center.

Anyhow, I'm not much of a training partner now, but in a month or two I'll be worth something. Just poking my head in here to let you know one more Stillwater guy checks these forums.

Once I show myself I am really going to do this I'll go spend the loot on a bike. The riding clubs look pretty active, so that has me excited to get in shape.

Hey guys, I'm a student at OSU, but I'm not there right now. I'm working a Co-Op in Texas, but I will be back next semester. I was a swimmer in HS and I've been cycling ever since I started college. It's been kind of a dream of mine to get into triathlons, and I've allready done the tye-di tri a couple of years back. Anyway, I'm hoping to start a small amount of training that will prepare me for really getting going once I graduate in Dec 07. At that point I would like to start training for an ironman (nowhere close right now). Maybe we meet up sometime.

Our new store is scheduled to open Thanksgivingish......there have been some building delays so it will probably some time in December. We will be located next to Bicycles of Tulsa's new store. It's going to be awesome - lots of space for cool "tri" stuff......looking to do lots of fun things and getting some more events to OK. We are always looking for ideas and suggestions so let me know what you guys would like to see and have in the area. Check out Tulsa Area Triathletes as well - I'm a board member and we are trying to do some new things for the coming year. St John's typically does an indoor tri in January but due to construction they are not going to have it - I'm checking into some other locations now. I'll let you know when I have some details -would love to have you guys join us.

Renee

Hey all, I'm back in stillwater after some time in Texas and I think I'm going to target a triathlon to begin working my way up to Ironman distance. I'm looking to do the El Reno Route 66 Olympic distance Tri on June 3rd. If there is anybody out there that would like to join me in training, please let me know.

Welcome back - we need more triathletes in OK. There is also the Tulsa Tri - it will be June 10th at Skiatook Lake - it's an awesome tri and this year is it's 25th anniversary. If you were going to choose - I would definately say Tulsa (okay I'm a little bias - I am one of the race directors) - but I have done El Reno in the past and if I was going to choose I would definately say Tulsa - the course is a little harder - the roads are much better.......The Tulsa Tri website will be up and running soon I will attach a link when the time comes. Also, on the weekend of June 1-3 is Tulsa Tough - it was an awesome event last year - and will be even better this year.
