  • 4224 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

Lined up in the 1:11-1:20 group. I personally had no issues with contacts, but other people I guess had some troubles. I just had the normal amount contact that you would see in other OWS during tri's.
What would you do differently?:

This was my first Ironman so I was a bit more timid. Next time I'll probably be more comfortable and will head closer to the cable line. I stayed pretty wide of it, but was right on target for my projected time based on training.
Transition 1
  • 08m
Comments:

Changed into bike shorts - best decision of the day! Forgot chamois butter though - not so good decision of the day. Lesson learned!
Bike
  • 7h 11m 48s
  • 112 miles
  • 15.59 mile/hr
Comments:

My bike fitness suffered this year after taking last fall off for an injury. I followed my race and nutrition plan to a tee and had a great experience.
Transition 2
  • 05m 42s
Comments:

Changed shorts again!
Run
  • 5h 31m 54s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 12m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

I had been suffering from major knee/IT-band/hip issues throughout my training cycle and did not run over 12 miles so I knew the run would be a struggle for me. I had a better than expected first half of the race! Then the knee started to go around mile 14, but I was able to run/walk until mile 18 when the knee finally gave out and I had to walk the remaining miles. I was able to run the final mile to the finish though! :-)

I found a sprint, the Lake Las Vegas Triathlon, that was happening four months down the road and signed myself up; much to the surprise of friends and family.

I have Bontrager Race Lite wheels. I was looking into renting Zipp 303's or 404's for race day for Ironman Lake Placid. What time will I save?

I am running Boston in April and Ironman Lake Placid is in July. I have been told that it is ambitious to think about doing an IM so close to a marathon due to the recovery time. Any suggestions?

The first time I ventured into the deep murky green lake and could not see the bottom my muscles tensed and my imagined fears surfaced. What exactly lies beneath?

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.

If you are calm while everyone around you is losing it, you probably don’t know what the hell is going on.
