Can simulate very close to swimming in the water and my stroke strength is very good.. ha,, I haven't been in the water since last year in New Orleans in April (last years race)....I will get in the water soon here in the lake in central SC with a few swims to re-aclimate myself and I'll be good to go. My runs are always outdoors,, last week I ran 3- 10 milers..this week will do a 13 and a couple of 10's. So last week I hit 6000 some "estimated" yards of swimming, 141 miles of cycling and 30 miles of running. A total of a bit over 14 hours. That's crazy about not swimming. you have that set up at your house? sure would be nice to not drive to a pool... hats off to you on the trainer sessions. I dont mind my 60-90min interval sessions on the trainer...but once I get up to 3 hours I start to get real bored. |

Veteran 212 Commerce, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 New Orleans : Official Thread Yes,, ,, ha long story short,, when I was training for Ironman Florida back in 2011, I perfected the swim workouts on the Totalgym and did this for like 5 months until getting in the lake in the Spring. I have the machine angles setup perfectly with the right resistance and concentrate on my breathing technigue along with rolling from side to side working my core muscles into it alot.....No need to the water until it gets closer to a race. I can't stand swimming laps in a pool and I get a better swim workout on the machine + its the open water I swim the race in so that the only swimming I will do. I guesstimate the distance based on my swim times from the pool when I swam some in it and from races in open water with the wet suit. And to share some more craziness about it, I wear my goggles from time to time on the machine,ha!! |

It looks like the city made them move because of the festival. It also now says that 8 swimmers will go off every 10seconds as opposed to last year (which I dont think was as many at a time). The finish change doesnt bother me...it isn't in the french quarter anymore, but it should be easier to get back to transition from there. and I'm PUMPED about the swim change. hopefully now it wont take 2 hrs to get my AG in the water. |

Armstrong park is sort of FQ-adjacent I think. And yeah, will be a bit easier to get back to transition post race (altbough didn't see a mention of shuttles). swim start could be cool especially if you could link up with 5-8 folks planning on the same finish time and really work together |

At least there were ferries willing and ready to take us and our people everywhere. The biggest problem I have with this late change is trying to figure out if I should change hotels or not. Do I want to be near the start, near my bike, near the finish, near the French quarter? Train safe everyone. |

We're booked in the French Quarter so we could be close to the finish like last year.. I was within walking distance to the host hotel to catch the shuttle to the marina on race morning too.. Now I will have to drive to the Marina on race morning and my wife (who would just walk to the finish as I came in) will now have to catch a taxi to the City Park. I will have to take the shuttle at the finish there back to the Marina to get my bike then drive back to the City Park to pick up my wife...I don't mind that too much but this late change could really screw up some peoples plans logisticly. |

| Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 New Orleans : Official Thread Actually the change is a bit better for my crew and will make the day slightly easier. my problem is I left Wednesday for an overnite business trip about 4 hours away and ended up in the ER 2 am Thursday for stomach issues. Released Friday and drove home. Didn't turn out to be surgical so will be able to race but as a result I've not done anything since Wednesday including this weekends ride and run. Still dealing with residual healing so not quite sure when I'll get back at it. Race is no longer a goal time race but now a have fun race, which isn't so bad I guess. |

Anyway, I decided to drive the run course and see the current conditions and video tape it for anyone interested. I will post the videos as I upload them. The first one if the first 7 miles or so.
