Nice! I started some bagels after reading your post. They're rising in a bowl behind the TV set where the temp is perfect for yeast. |

Champion 10471 Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: TAN 202: A bunch of rotTAN apples At the Starbucks drive thru this morning people were "paying it forward (backwards?)" to wish the car behind them Merry Christmas. Apparently multiple cars did it, and someone bought my drink for me. I, of course, wanted to buy the coffee for the car behind me... BUT... and yes, I'm a horrible person... I first asked, "what did they order". To which the guy replied, "4 coffees". OUCH. Um, got something less expensive I can pay for? I mean, I did get a $4 coffee. Someone else had a $6 coffee behind me, so I paid for that. Yes, I'm a cheapskate! But hey, at least I didn't completely break the chain! Right?

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN 202: A bunch of rotTAN apples I did my good deed (or got scammed). Some guy ran up to me saying he was out of gas but only had a dollar and a gas can. I figured "here it comes, asking for money and I will say 'no'". But he asked for gas! It surprised me and I figured he can't drink or smoke away gas, so filled it up. Realized that 2.5 gallons later, that I would have been better off giving him 2-3 bucks instead I gave him $10 in gas! I actually believed him though. Unless he scams people just to fill up his tank (which seems like a lot of work), he probably really needed it. He also seemed REALLY thankful and called me a "life saver". That's a mark in the "good" column for Santa or Heaven's gate, whichever.

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN 202: A bunch of rotTAN apples So, I went to one of those contemporary Christian churches last night... You know, the ones with rock bands, lasar shows, LED screens everywhere, twitter/fb/instagram links during the service... I'm torn on the whole concept. I think they make church so much "fun" that people miss the message? They are like giant pep rallies and/or rock concerts. But I guess if it gets people in the seats and coming back???? I often think that the kids say "I feel the lord/spirit in my body at church!". I honestly think it's the 100 decibels of 18-20 hz bass that they pump out. I think I may go back even though I spend half the time being critical of how they spread the message because it sure is fun! Who doesn't like a Sunday morning rock concert with light show! The play contemporary music as well. Last night was "All I want for Christmas is you" but the "you" must have been the Lord???
I attached a link to there site. I'm curious what TAN thinks. We have a variety of progressive and traditional church goers here. It would be interesting what you all thought. http://www.centralonline.tv/media/ Edited by Kido 2013-12-24 11:34 AM |

It would be interesting what you all thought. i'm not a fan, but i have a deep deep hatred of churches in general. these churches are generally tailored to those OUTSIDE the church - once you get interested and desire a deeper knowledge/relationship, you need to go to another church. these places are really just trying to attract anyone, so not only is the message missed, but it is often not challenging or deep. there is a church called rock church in virginia beach that is one of these places, and one of the founders explained this form of mission to me once. |

That's great! We gave our domestic engineer (who has cleaned our house twice) $25 extra. She gave us a candle. Which I felt bad about. We should be giving her something! Glad we did! |
