I'm fairly new to the Phoenix area. I live in the Arcadia area near Tempe and Scottsdale. I am looking for a good track to do some speed workouts. Are there any open at night? The one closest to me is gated and locked except during school hours.
Arcadia high may be open. I know iRun does track there (I think in the evenings) so you could call them and ask Mark or Erin. Otherwise I know Tri Scottsdale does track days at Arcadia as well so check with them. I typically use SCC's track but I'm in Old Town so it's a bit more convenient for me.
I use the one at Phoenix College on Thomas and 15th Ave. It's open except for those rare nights/days that there is a men's football or women's soccer game at Hogan Field. But I live in downtown Phoenix, which is a bit closer than coming in from Arcadia.
Use this redesigned feature of your training logs to keep track of your time and mileage on all of your gear including shoes, bikes, tires, clothes, etc.
Provided one was proficient in setting up the different functions of the Lap Track, I think that a short-course triathlete would benefit most from this, since it only records splits up to 50 laps.
Stroke after stroke, my pace was pulling me out into the middle of the lake quickly. The cover seemed to be getting thicker. But still in the distance, the little boathouse was my lighthouse.
One way to improve your speed is to do track work that totals the time and distance goal. The idea is to slowly condition your body to be comfortable at your goal pace.
