Looking at these races for my first (ever) 70.3 in 2014. I live in western OH so they are both pretty close. Looking at a few threads it sounds like most were happy with their experience in Richmond last year. I am leaning toward Richmond mainly because of the timing...May 30 sounds better than July 12 weather wise. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi. I'm leaning towards doing Richmond (Toughman) as well. My sister did the inaugural race last year and said it was well supported and overall a good race. The swim was wetsuit legal, the bike had some hills to make things challenging. The price is also tempting.
I've done both, and I definitely prefer Richmond. It really depends on what type of race you're looking for. If you're looking for a smaller, well run race, I'd recommend Richmond. Muncie is good if you value the WTC Ironman brand and a big field.
I guess the reason I preferred Richmond was because it was more focused on the participants in the race itself, and not so much on the surrounding events.
I just finished the NYC marathon on Sunday and I think I'm going to venture into triathlons. I am doing an Olympic distance and I want to do a 70.3 next year too. Any advice?
Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.
It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
