I got that email notification as well. Did anyone else notice all the typos and the greeting line that stated " Dear (Contact First Name),"

Also, while not Packet Pick-up, I am ASSUMING it is done here: (per the email)

Registration & Transition:
Saturday day before the event will open at 12:00 pm and close at 3:00pm. Multi-Sport 101 weather permitting will begin at 3:00pm in the transition area.
Sunday Race Morning registration and transition will open at 6:00 am. Registration will close at 7:00am and Transition will close at 7:30am. Plan your commute appropriately as registration will close promptly at 7:00 and the race will start at 7:30am.

Needless to say, I am underwhelmed with the management and communication for this event so far.

I too noticed the typos and was really laughing at this sentence in the rules section:

Note we have had several penalties at this event in the past so lets make this year's event a fair one for all.

Um, first year event? Some other general observations:

Only 400 people total. And they now send out an email to us asking to spread the word.

The swim seeding is going to be the usual Charlie Foxtrot with people under estimating their time. I am putting in 1:45/100 as that's what I swam at LITH.

Not looking forward to running around the short trails.

I plan on picking up on Saturday. Probably going to cost me $5 entrance fee both days as I am not a CL resident.

Debating on the on wet suit or not for the sprint probably worth 90 seconds for me. Might get my stuff on Saturday as it might be a little dis organized on Sunday morning.

Like the rest of you, when I got the email, and saw the Dear....I was like, WTF? Missed a step?

And noticed all the other typos since it's a first year race...so hopefully their grammar/email blast issues don't correlate to a sh*tty run race...otherwise, they're gonna give RAM a run for their money. Sorry, that wasn't fair.

I too will be heading over there Saturday during 12-3 to get my race packet, so maybe I'll see some of you over there!

Ha...for sure. Can't be any worse than what I did one year at Batavia...I think FurnaceM3 was actually there...when I filled out the online application and it asked for my 400m estimated time in minutes, I accidentally typed in 4 instead of 7 (on my keyboard here at work, I have the # pad off to the right, so it was a TOTALLY honest mistake), so I was give the race #1. OMG...I thought I was going to die!

Good times!

I was at that race.you held the lead for at least 8 seconds. I think that was the year the fastest swimmer forgot to do his second lap

Not sure what time I will pick up. I may park outside the area and ride my errand bike in. If you see a tall, dorky looking guy on a red Trek hybrid, say hi. I am not necessarily under trained for this, but 3 hours for the oly sounds about right. I am burned out and need a break from training and racing. I plan on having fun and not worrying about all the little things that will go wrong for a first year race.

Do you have to pay if you park? was going to ride my moutain bike on the run course to see what it was like. so if it saves me $5 bucks to ride it in I am all for that

I believe it's $5 to enter the park by car but free by bike, unless you live in CL. Residents get in free. I was planning on driving up and parking near the Main Street entrance and ride in Saturday. Sunday, I'll probably bit the bullet and pay the $5.

The Bigfoot tri also charges $5 for parking.

Looking at the aerial photo, I am thinking that parking in the stipmall lot just to the west of the Route 14 entrance may be best. Seems as it will be the easiest in and out.

As for the swim times - did I miss that? Were we suppose to already put that in somewhere, or do we do that day of/packet pickup?

Picked up around 12:30. Fairly organized. The oly swim looks long, but maybe it's my poor reckoning. I rode most of the run course from what I could tell from the map. Be prepared for grassy trails with potential ruts and such. There is going to be a steep up hill section to get from one section of the trail to the other and it's basically single track.

The swim seeding is done tomorrow. They will probably line us up by time like a marathon and send us 1x1 or 2x2. Didn't ask.

Bib 105. Looks like just shy of 200 for the oly.

So a couple thoughts on the race those .2 miles on the bike course where killers. I saw 1 bike accident because of it. Other than that the bike course was super fast. those goofy hills in the run where a little tough but not horrible. Glad the fog lifted so the Olympic people could get there whole race in.

best part of my day was coming into t2 and there where only 5 bikes in ahead of me. it was kind of sureal but gave me a good boost of confidence

That was some fun, huh? Not sure I cared for the cross country style run, but overall, a good race. Will be interested to see next year's bike course.

Race report up.

I actually quite enjoyed it......mud, sand and all. The bike did feel really fast and I would agree those .2 miles were brutal since if you got caught behind a pack you just had to go slow. Oh well. Next year should be interesting.

One observation: Why no number on our bikes and helmet??? That really seemed odd to me and probably was the only Tri I ever seen that before. Seems like a security issue to me.

how where you guys run times compared to a flat course mine where down about 30 seconds a mile. I am trying to figure out if that's because of the course or just me

2015 Race Information is out.

4 Lap Olympic Bike Course again this year. UGH. Had hoped that was only for one year, but it appears to be back for 2015 again.

I already signed up with their black Friday deal ($70 for the oly). They always said the 4 lap bike was a one year thing, so maybe they will modify that before the race. I just cannot see where they would run the bike course without causing major traffic snarls. It was bad enough this year on Rakow for drivers and I imagine Crystal Lake was not pleased with how it worked out.

I would hope it's taken care of, but when I contacted the Race Mgt. company I was basically told they have no control over it. My point to them was not to claim it is a "one-year course" when you can't control it. I also thought it was poor to not make mention in the race information that " due to_________ -we are keeping the 4-lap course again this year.

In all honesty, I may pass on this event this year. The 4-lap Oly mixed with the 2-lap sprint was not ideal at all. I had planned to do the Black Friday deal as well, but when I saw the same bike course info, I decided to wait.

apparently, but that would require communication from the race mgt. company to explain why they are keeping the 4 lap course when last year they said it was for one year only.

I really want to do this race again since the logistics were easy and I enjoyed all parts of the race. Sure that .2 mile section on the bike backed things up a bit, but I managed through it. I, too, was hoping that the bike course would change for 2015 so I'm holding out my registration until things are more clarified.

Anyone racing tomorrow? I am again in for the oly. The bike is 4 loops but the course has been updated to all right hand turns/one way traffic and they closed several roads. My beef is it is listed as a 24 mile bike (6 mile loop) and there is no way this is a 6 mile loop.

http://www.3disciplines.com/Events/IconFiles/bikecourse_map.pdf

The run is different this year too. Kind of in reverse of last year and no more going up/down sled hill. I'll be interested to see how many they get. I think they are lagging a bit as I got an email to tell my fiends and they are offering $20 off day-of registration.

Meh, it's local and if there are no delays, I should be home by 11.

I'm doing the sprint tomorrow. It'll be my first event.

The director said that the bike loop is 5.1 miles, I believe.
