No one in my family is into tri or can even fathom how I would enjoy the experience, but they are extremely supportive and are helping my along the way to my first HIM.

I got running gloves, Under Armor stocking cap, Nathan reflective straps, some Gus, Clif builder bars, and a TIMEX IRONMAN HRM (I didn't have the heart to tell them I already have got a Garmin 310 because it was such a well intentioned and thoughtful gift)...and a SUFFERLANDRIAN flag!

I work 6AM-6 or 7PM so all my workouts are I'm the cold & in the dark; they're great listeners with the night/winter gear!

Quarq Elsa PM. Waterproof ipod shuffle, putting music on it now, and will try it out today. And some Honey Stinger wafers. I used to be pretty stocked up, but went through my supply. I should have saved some of my old ones as "collectors items," as they had Lance on the package.

I got a ton of cool stuff! Yurbuds, a Clean Bottle, a medal hanger, a bento box, and a whole case and a half of salted caramel Gu - haha.

My mother bought the bento box for me, and she doesn't know a thing about triathlon. She flagged someone down at REI and asked, "What is a banto box?" The guy just laughed and helpfully showed her what it was.

I got an early present from my 19 year old son, a Cervelo P2-SL with mostly Dura Ace components, FSA carbon cranks, Williams 85 up front and Renn disc in the back.

Annual box of munchies that I like to eat before long runs and on bike rides--favorite flavors of Cliff bars and several bags of almonds (my favorite snack and almost impossible to find in Vietnam--I bring them in by the kilo. We pretty much give/get the same presents every year so it's no surprise! I prefer to get my own running/tri stuff as I know what I need/want. Treated myself to a pretty unique run outfit with purple tie-die top and purple SkirtSports run skirt. Got Mom some winter bike gear--fortunately it fit.

But I gave a garmin edge 500, a powertap wheelset, a garmin 110, 2 pairs of rudy project glasses,  a rudy wingspan, 2 TYR backbacks,  and assorted cold weather ride/run gear.  I feel absolutely blessed to be able to do that.

Well do you own a Tri store or something? Nada because why?

Nah......the kids are getting to the point where they need power for training, and need to be able to upload workouts for remote coaches......so I shopped really hard for deals/codes/credit card points/etc and saved most of the year in anticipation of them getting older and more serious about racing.  We actually didn't spend nearly as much as we thought we were going to so it worked out ok.  As for the nada..... I got what I asked for.  Truthfully, I don't care much about getting gifts and I can manage my triathlon ambitions just fine with the gear I already have.  At this point in my life it's mostly a race to just stay active and healthy....you can do that pretty cheaply.

New (first) tri bike for me. Headlamp (as mentioned in another thread), 2 running books (Pfitzinger and Jack Daniels), calf sleeves and some Roka Sim swim shorts. I love the swim shorts but I'll probably swap them out to get a full wetsuit since I don't have one.

Wife got me my first ever Bike Fit. Going tomorrow for the Retul fit. This will be step one in the process of converting from the Trek Hybrid to a real road bike. See what's going to fit and then figure out how much coin is going to be needed. I really enjoy numbers, metrics, etc...so I'm pretty geeked out over getting to do the fit. Also got a new pair of jammers since my 3XL's were baggy from losing so much weight. Now into a XL. WOOT!!!

Flo 60s plus GP4000s for the Tri bike, gonna run them as every day wheels. Have a disc cover from an older wheel set that should fit the rear. Also means I can move the training wheels over to my road bike full time instead of swapping them and the cassette back and forth.
Mountain Bike for winter training out side.

I'm having a blast on the MTB ad it showed up a little ahead of Christmas. All ready have several 60+ mile days on it. I can commute to work via trails in our neighborhood and a local MTB park. Gives me a 2 hour ride to work with a nice mix of trails and hills.

Under Armour 2.0 leggings for cold weather running and an extra 10 pounds (one I asked for, the other I didn't--hopefully the first will help melt the 2nd).

I got a Finis SwiMP3, some running shorts and a compression shirt, a cold weather skull cap, and the ugliest Brooks Ravenna 4s I've ever seen.  They're awesome.  I'm gonna get them broken in and race in them at Dopey.

Nothing and a lot… over the last few months we've bought everything we needed to build up my wife's dream bike, a Parlee Z5SLi with Campy Super Record EPS. That was supposed to be for Christmas, but then I ran into a snag… her XS frame is simply too small to fit the battery on the chain stay, just about 1mm clearance between it and the tire, not enough… So we ordered the new internal battery (which is VERY difficult to get a hold of) and got that. Then we realized that the new battery requires the v2 DTI unit (the control box by the handle bars), so we bought that. Then we realized that with the seat tube mounted internal battery, her seat post is now a bit too long, so we got a new seat post (no, we couldn't cut the old one… it's a AX-Lightness Daedalus, so super light and reinforced with Kevlar at the clamp surface, hence not something you cut).

Ok, so here's where gets interesting… now we have the external battery and the old DTI, so I started to look at how much it would be to get my bike upgraded to Campy Record EPS, only needing a front/rear derailleur and shifters. Said and done, now I have everything I need to upgrade my bike as well.

So what was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my wife (purchased over a few months) has become a Christmas gift for both of us!

…. and yes, I do know how lucky I am.

So now I have some very interesting bike building to get done over the next few weeks. :-)
