The bike course is pancake flat comparing to Iornman Wisc.
I should have my PR for IM distance.

Who's thinking of doing this?

Maybe for 2015.  I have a couple of HIMs this year that I want to use as a gauge to see if I'll want to go longer later.

I kinda wanted my first iron distance to be an mdot event.  But $300 and no travel might trump the "official" ironman experience.

x2, though I'll be in for 2015 (not sure which distance yet... HIM vs full)

As an aside, the East and South bound stretches of the bike are anything but flat. Leaving Watertown until 92 crosses 24 are part of the Liberty half route, and those actually have some impressive hills. I guess I haven't done IMMOO yet, so perhaps you're right. The run does follow a rail-to-trail for 6 miles and otherwise follows the shoreline, so that is sure to be flat.

Sprint @ Chisago? HIM @ Square Lake?

I'm doing both Chisago and Square Lake HIM.

The half at Chisago. Not sure about SQL yet. They are going to repave 170th this year (this patch of road has had me uninterested in the short course for many years). If that gets done, the bike course will be pretty fast and really nice! Maybe I'll do both...

This training plan is written to prepare you for your first Ironman. While just a beginner’s plan, the hours per week start at a significant 8 hours.
