Expert 1544 Alexandria, MN | Subject: What's your 2014 Race Calendar look like? What's everyone got on tap this year? Let's hear your plans, what races you're doing and/or what races you'll be at to crew, pace or just hang out. Who knows, I'm guessing there's a chance some of us will be at the same places this year, this would be a good opportunity to figure that out and connect! I'll start: Superior 50k in May, Kettle Moraine 100 in June, Voyager 50 mile in July, nothing yet in August, then Wasatch 100 in September! And for training and fun, I'll be doing Boston, Big Sur, Twin Cities, Berlin, Chicago and New York Marathons. |

Very tempting, but I would feel bad getting a pacer unless they fully understood and expected that they're signing up to walk 75% of the final 38 mile loop! |

Subject: RE: What's your 2014 Race Calendar look like? No ultras for me this year, either, as I'm focusing on completing my first IM at Wisconsin then having surgery on my right foot for arthritis and bunion. However, I'm pacing and crewing at a couple events for my friend who is going for the Midwest Super Slam again (she was the only female to complete all 5 100's last year). I'll be with her at Indiana Trail 100 in April and Mohigan Trail 100 in June for sure. I absolutely LOVE pacing as it has given me much more satisfaction than racing myself. I can't really put it to words but I encourage you to ask someone to pace (or babysit or whatever you want to call it) as you may be giving them an opportunity to be rewarded above what you can imagine. I love you Ultra people and have just been hanging around this forum and others gleaning what I can about the longer distance. Good Luck to you in 2014 and in your amazing endeavors! .

Expert 1051 Bradenton, Florida | Subject: RE: What's your 2014 Race Calendar look like? I'll be making my ultra debut this year at Palm Bluff 50k, May 4th. Nothing planned after that, I want to see how it goes. My long term goal is the Keys 50 next year (2015). Not sure I'm fast enough to pace for anyone but I am willing to try if you're racing in southwest FL. |

I haven't been 'home' in 14 years and am doing this run with my best friend from Jr. High! Ironman Lake Tahoe Sept 22 The North Face Endurance 50 San Francisco, Dec ? Zion 100 April 2015, obviously not this year but its in the grand plan, so keeping it on the radar during the year. Not to mention 100 scares the poo poo out of me....which is also why I'm want to do it. I want that 'newbie' nervousness that I had before my fisrt couple IM's and 50 milers. If youve never run on red dirt butter, youu're in for a huge treat! I love racing in Utah, and coming from sea level I've never had any altitude issues there. The scenery is delicious! |

April - Hells Hills 50-mile June - Kettle Moraine 100-mile Between now and then, I'll probably throw a few shorter races in to keep things fresh, and I'll probably do a few sprint tris and a couple bike races. |

Pro 6520 Bellingham, WA | Subject: RE: What's your 2014 Race Calendar look like? The only ultra on the schedule is the Hamster Endurance run in Bellingham, Washington. It's a 12/24 hours race. I have to go back to defend my 3rd OA finish in the 12 hour race. I've got at least three marathons planned, Yakima River Canyon, Seattle Rock n' Roll, and Leavenworth. All in Washington. In addition, I'll do about 12-15 shorter running races and a few tri's. I'd like to make one of those an HIM and fingers crossed for Kona lottery slot. |

At first I thought you were quoting one of my posts about a failed RR100 and signing up for KM100 instead. I haven't signed up for Kettle Moraine yet, I'm just keeping an eye on the signups to be sure it doesn't fill then I'm going to see how I feel as we get closer. But there's a very good chance I'll be there for either the 100 mile of 100k. |

I have never heard of the New England Challenge until now, looks intense! I deferred that one to next year so nope no Pro Football Hall of Fame....the words i remember are bicep tendon & labrel tendon need re attached and something in reference to slap lesion. Have a large bone spur to shave down. I was more worried about running a marathon 17 days after Zion 100 rather then the shoulder surgery! I had my left one done in 05 and he had to anchor 3 things back in place and remember the terrible recovery!! Thats one reason I've blown off going to see about this one as I knew what the outcome was going to be..figured that was the best time to schedule it since I can hurt from the 100 and the shoulder at the same time and recover from both |

Extreme Veteran 3177 | Subject: RE: What's your 2014 Race Calendar look like? While most of it is up in the air depending on finances after my wife and I do IVF in April but currently signed up for the North Olympic Discovery Marathon (will be my second full and feeling much better about it this year than last so far) and planning to do a trail marathon in September called "Beat the Blerch" (first time for this run to be done so it could be good or not!) then I am hoping to do the defiance 50k in October. Amongst all of that will be a lot of smaller road races and maybe a few trail races and/or sprint tri's. I am excited to run the seahawks 12k in April again. a short race but this will put at 5/5 for this races history. |
