LOL. That's hilarious. Yes, only a triathlete would wear a HRM to a waxing appt.

I have a very high pain tolerance, so any waxing I've had hasn't really been too bad, but really, folks (not you specifically, bradk, everyone in general), check into pulsed light hair removal. Worth. Every. Penny.

LOL - I read through the whole thread not realizing this was from you Brad. Thanks for the morning laugh. Let us know if the wax job lasts much longer between shaves. I tried "Veet" once - stuff stinks to much. I think I'll look into an electric razer.

Is that different from laser hair removal?

So far it's been 2 weeks and some stubble is coming back. No major ingrowns to speak of but the 2 days after the appointment, my skin on my quads/hams literally bubbled with heatrash. OUCH.

The upside is that I finally got to use the curious baby blue puff thing in the shower. Looooofaaas rule!

I did drop the 40 year old virgin line at one point, something like "just don't make me look like a man-o-lantern." She didn't get it, the joke was lost, and I continued on, and I suffered silently; now under the suspicion of being strange.

brad.

What comes to mind is the hair removal scene in "The 40 Year Old Virgin."

Saw it least night - thought of this thread. GREAT flick!

The process is basically the same except this uses pulsed light rather than a laser. The pulsed light hurts less (although I didn't really think the laser hurt all that much) and apparently works faster (fewer treatments). I don't honestly remember all the scientific details but check out www.advancedmedicalinstitute.com for more info.

For laser you're supposed to go between 2 - 5 times, depending, I looked into it, but it was too much $.

I'm currently doing laser, and it's the best thing EVER!  I have pale skin and dark hair, so it works great.  It takes me about 6 treatments.  I was 1/2 way through the treatments with my legs before the summer hit, so I'm taking a break until October when they won't be exposed to the sun much.  I used to have to shave everyday, and the stubble would appear within hours of shaving.  Not anymore.  It's so worth it!  I also go to a place that's MUCH more affordable then the rest of the country.  http://tucson.unclewebster.com/lc/bus/1672/prices.shtml

Daremo - 2006-08-07 2:56 PM Even with 15 years of (on and off) leg shaving under my belt I've never once done a wax job. However, sitting around bored watching TV one evening (back in my pure cycling days well before getting married) I individually plucked out both legs from the knee down with tweezers ....... THAT took awhile to grow back.

That's right up there with waterboarding... OUCH

Nob - 2006-08-08 12:14 AM men's nair......gotta do it more often but a hell of a lot less painful

Not sure about waxing, but I wont be using Nair again anytime soon. Horrible mess, smelled awful and I got a big chemical burn behind my knee cuz I couldn’t get it completely off.  For now I'll stick to shaving even though my wife always complains about me using her razor.

Well, I certainly can use MY "face" razor on my legs. Tongue out

**Wow. Just realized that this is an old thread!  It's a good one though.

LOL  I had designs on wearing my HRM some evening for.........uhhhh, other things.  But I haven't quite convinced my wife that it's for scientific training purposes.

Not gonna lie, when I got my BodyBugg, that's one of the first things I did. Boyfriend was pretty amenable to the idea, though I blamed him later when there was no "spike."

I don't do the arms/legs (my hair is blonde anyhow, so I can get away with a lot), but I do the Brazillian every 4-6 weeks without fail.

I'll say the only time it was really a doozy was this last time because my left nether bit is swollen and bruised from tipping the bike in the clips again on Sunday.  YOWCHA! My waxer was like, 'What on EARTH happened here?!" (And then got very apprehensive as though she realized there were probably a whole lot of answers to that question that she did NOT want to hear.)

You guys are all sissies. I had been waxing my own legs for years before my wife talked me into getting some of my body parts lasered. I own 2 waxing stations at home I'm no longer using now. I will take waxing any day over getting lasered. I have some NSFW pictures of the damage from my laser appointments. The heart rate is a good idea. I will bring mine next time and you can try guessing the area by the pain spikes, haha.

After a wax, Tend Skin is your friend. It will prevent any ingrowns or red bumps. You can get it at a salon or Sephora.

I think this might be a record for the oldest thread that someone posted on as if it were current. I didn't think wax had even been invented when this thread was new.

I don't know who dug this thread up, but thank you. After reading through it I have to explain the laughter and spitting sounds coming from my cubicle.

Thanks again.
