Regular  97  New Zealand |  Subject: What Brand of Running Shoes do You Wear?I'm curious to know what is the most popular brand of running shoe for BT'ers. I wear Brooks, chiefly because they offer running shoes for narrow feet and ankles. |

Extreme Veteran 579 | Subject: RE: What Brand of Running Shoes do You Wear? Asics are the only shoes for me, I have worn Brooks before but and would again if I had too. The worst by far are NIKE, they absolutely kill my feet. They feel like a vise, I can't walk, much less run in them. |

Runner | Subject: RE: What Brand of Running Shoes do You Wear? New Balance and Nike for me. Asics made my feet pronate. I had Gels once, and curse the day I ever got them. My training shoes are New Balance, my trail shoes are currently New Balance (although I REALLY want the Teva X-1s), and my racing flats are Nike. I like the Nikes, good cushioning, but the upper is like....almost non-existent. |

Easier to get wide sizes in New Balance stores, in my never-humble opinion, and I need 10.5 EE's because I have gorilla feet. Plus I've need major arch support for my Liz Franc tear rehab, and the NB motion control shoes seem to be pretty good for that. I used to just buy whatever shoes were on sale - dumb, I know. These are the first shoes that I bought specifically because they work for me - and they weren't on sale! I've had the best fit luck with Nike, but they have tended to compress in the forefoot badly. Same thing with the Saucony's I've had recently as well. Just a byproduct of my running style, I guess. No one makes ployurethane midsoles any more. Well, there is ONE Nike model that uses urethane, but I haven't been able to tell whether it's a full urethane midsole, or just urethane plugs in the heel. I find it interesting that virtually ALL the research and money in shoes goes into the heel, and almost none of it goes into the forefoot (I'm a fore- to mid-foot striker). I'm very interested in the latest offering from Brooks on the MoGo shoes... |

My running store set me up with some Sauconys, but the fit took a little while to get used to (especially with the orthotics) and they seem to be wearing out faster (don't think I'll get 400 miles out of 'em.) |
