Subject: Things to do near Flagstaff?
Hi Arizonian BT-ers!

We're planning a family trip (wife, 9yo son and me) to the Grand Canyon in April and will be spending a day or two in Flagstaff. Any suggestions for things to do? If you have suggestions for a hike or a park to visit, or any other can't-miss activities I'd appreciate it. My son is a pretty active kid and loves to hike, but he is only 9, so we should probably stay away from any trail that's too technical or overly long that we can't bail out of if it part way in if it gets to be too much.

I'd also be interested in seeing if there's a bike tour we could take. We'd need to rent bikes, though, and while we're all confident cyclists, we don't have much experience off-road, so again, nothing too technical.

Are there any local restaurants you'd suggest?

Thanks for any info.

For a hike, I'd recommend west fork 187. It'd be south of Flag, but a very pretty hike and not technical at all. As for a bike tour, Flagstaff is a small town. A bike tour wouldn't last too long. Haven't been, but I understand they do some cool things at the observatory there.

Another cool place is Walnut Canyon... cliff dwellings and a great viewing/visitor center (East of Flag) and a nice hiking/walking path around to look at it all! We took our kids a few years ago and they thought it was cool.
If you want to drive a little...Meteor Crater is another cool spot - on the I-40 East of Flag.
Definitely the Observatory!!! My husband was just there with our 6 year old and they had a whole section on Black Holes.
Take a drive up to Snowbowl. You can always hike some of the Mt. Humphreys trail and just turn back when you get tired.

EAT AT DIABLO BURGER!!!!! It is always crazy busy but totally worth the wait!
Beaver Street Brewery is another great spot for food!

I love Flag and can't wait to go up this summer! Have fun!

The cause of the sleeplessness could be anxiety to get out and compete but more often than not the inability to sleep is a fear of what might happen, of what might go bump out on the race course.

Stripped of its three-figure entry fees and five figure bikes, when the gun goes off it's still a bunch of crazies doing three sports for a thousand reasons.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

Do you see the bladder as half-full or half-empty? In this instance, it really doesn't matter how you look at it... you'd just better go.
