Subject: RE: Stretching Yes you are right stretching before a race or training can lengthen the muscles - yet they will still be cold making them more vulnerable to injury. When That is just static stretching though (hold for 30seconds ) - Dynamic stretching on the other hand is great to do before as it warms up the muscles and lengthens out e.g. big slow, controlled lunges.
Afterwards you should definitely static stretch, preferably with 1 minute holds - Tight muscles are weak muscles
