Swim
  • 08m 16s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 46s / 100 meters
Comments:

swim was really rough, they had to cut it down with no swimming against the tide. I started well but got tight chested after 200 metres and almost quit but doggy paddled for a while and managed to finish but not last. yay
What would you do differently?:

more open water swim training, position myself better for the turns from the start.
Transition 1
  • 03m 59s
Comments:

as the first transition was going to take a while I put my shoes on in transition, I need to set my transition up much better.

T1 position 59th average compared to most
What would you do differently?:

have everything ready beforehand,
Bike
  • 1h 30m 51s
  • 43 kms
  • 28.40 km/hr
Comments:

the bike started well getting upto speed and going into a 30 mph headwind for 9 miles. my arse end kicked out 5 times on the oily road. this is the best time that I have done this course in.
What would you do differently?:

stick to my pace, every time I saw someone ahead it was an excuse to push hard.
Transition 2
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

came into T2 and had to find some dry socks my feet were numb.

T2 position 77th very slow compared to others
What would you do differently?:

make sure my transition is set out properly could have been a lot faster
Run
  • 59m 35s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 58s  min/km
Comments:

i don't think i could have given it any more as i chased down 3 guys in the last mile but my legs were shattered running into the wind and along the sea wall.
What would you do differently?:

I definitely spent to much on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

none

Event comments:

Congrats on your first tri!

Sounds like conditions were tough, but that's why we train.

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.

I’m a 240lb man, and I run relatively long distances. How would you recommend training for marathon and IM distances as heavy as I am?
