I'm hoping to be there! I've heard nothing but good things about it...bugs, humidity, heat, hills. Should be an awesome race.

Its a good race- challenging for a sprint with the 17.5 mile, somewhat hilly, bike course. Have fun!

My training plan for the next 6 weeks is nothing, so maybe :-)

Actually lemme see what is goin' on and if I can get motivated again. I can't lose a footrace to a 10ish hr ironman, sub 3hr marathoner, now can I? ;-)

I'd be scared to race ya, Louis! I'd blow up in the water trying to catch ya and my race would be over, just like that!

I've seen enough of that stretch of roads for a little while Although, I do like the run there.

When is that race again?

Think it might be wetsuit legal? :P

What would Chuck Norris do?

Saw a sign during Raleigh Sunday that said "Chuck Norris Never Did An Ironman." That made me laugh, and I started thinking " If he did, he'd call it a "Norrisman". Because nothing's stronger than Chuck Norris."

I can't believe there isn't a Norrisman already. Not kidding. It could have enough name recognition to compete with Ironman! I saw that sign at IMTX just a few weeks ago. It's always funny. Almost as funny as the "If Ironman were easy, it'd be called your mom" signs.

Wetsuit legal? I'm convinced that wetsuits hate me, therefore, I'll wish it away.

I was originally planning on it but my wife's due date is that Thursday.... There's no way she'd let me race that close to our first child being born!

I'm planning on being there.  Been intending to do this race since 2005, back when it was still at Lake Crabtree, and it finally looks like I'll make it this year.

The stacked field won't be because of me......I was talking about Louis and Bill and maybe Daryn?

Wait, d00d, aren't you that really fast guy that louiskie talks about?

Umm, nope, there's going to be no one interesting at this race. Really boring. Might want to save yourself the trouble.

...cough...snort...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA....ROLLL....ROLLL....ROLL....GASP...WHEEZE..

That. Was. Funny.

You did just see that Scott went 4:56 at Raleigh, Louis 5:19, and me 4 minutes behind at 5:23 and a lot of change, but Daryn won 2nd place AG last year at Raleigh??

Sadly, I'll be away that weekend. Wait, what weekend is it? Yeah, I'm gone that weekend, whichever one it is.'

To the OP, you will like the race. The water will be warm and wet, just like the air. It's front loaded with hills, but the back side of the bike course is fast and a lot of downhill. The run is mostly off-road though, so be ready with appropriate footwear (some pretty good sized gravel down out there).

yeah smoom, d00d is THAT guy. :-) And qrkid is the other guy. qrkid is on hiatus for a bit though- busy with school, life etc so I doubt he will do tri tri. And smoom is that other really fast guy who comes to these things...

So smoom, you in? fgump quickly planned a family weekend away but it would be really lame if you suddenly had to do your nails :-) At least japarker consistently represents!!

Yes I'm definitely thinking I'll do it. But it's pending final family summer calendaring. I might be more likely to do it if you stop bringing around your fast friends!

Sweating it off... if you want to check out the roads on the course and have some fun, go out with a CBC group ride. They have every speed and distance imaginable and they ride at least some of those roads on virtually every ride. PM me if you want some info on them.

I've been training long course for the past few years, so I don't think Louiskie knows what he's talking about! Besides, I'm a terrible swimmer! I'd prob have to catch you on the run, if that's even possible!

I'll be the old man in the 35-39 AG.

How about ya'll?

qrkid is prob one of the fastest guys I know...even without training!

Alan (japarker) has been tearing it up this year, owning the races he's attended!

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.
