Comments: I knew going into this race that I was not half marathon ready. Sure, I'd done the distance a few times, but my pace was slow due to the mileage, a winter surgery, and just finally feeling good again. What would you do differently?: Not sure there's much I could have done. I think I could have drank more fluids on Friday and spent a little less time in the sun. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Simply not being in shape for any type of speed. Event comments: This is a great race if you can stick around and enjoy the after-party. I had to leave immediately to get to my daughter's softball game out of town. I was in a rush and didn't even get anything to eat. In the past, however, I've really enjoyed everything they offer. Great race venue for a mini-trip. Des Moines is a great city and Saturday mornings are top-notch. Last updated: 2014-06-02 12:00 AM

Got up and had a bowl of cereal. Then took along a banana and Bonk breaker for a snack. Had about 8 oz of water that AM.
Some dynamic stretching to get my hips feeling good.
