Heading to Galveston soon with the family. How is the riding there?
I see they host several large events. Am I safe to ride alone?
Thanks

The answer is yes, and no. Use extreme caution when cycling near the seawall. Lots of turns, u-turns, pulling out of parking, drinking, etc. Once you get out past that to the west side, fairly smooth and trouble free. Windy most of the time, which can keep it comfortable. Watch out for gnats around 2:00. They will go up your nose.

Second that advice.  I would not ride along the Seawall during peak hours.  Cars park both parallel and perpendicular to the road so cars are pulling in and out from every direction.

The Texas 70.3 took an alternate course out of Moody Gardens to the Seawall this year (for traffic purposes) but also makes sense for avoiding the busiest part of the Seawall.  Follow Stewart Road to where it turns left near Sweetwater Lake.  Take either 7 or 8 Mile Road to the Seawall.
