Good morning BT!

4:15am:  60 min run with a mix of 400m and 200m repeats, whoo hoo. Tough one this morning!

5:30am:  30 mins circuit strength + core

Homecoming week at my school...let the craziness ensue!  The theme is Music Mayhem and today is Hip Hop/Rap day so I get to be a rapper.  Great excuse to wear a big baggy shirt and comfy sweats.  Word.

Have a great day!

Swim day here too. 3250m of various fun things--all of the sets totaled 400m. The last one was a continuous swim that was supposed to be "25 meters fast/75 meters smooth". Ended up doing it in 6:30 and Mr. Lifeguard (who normally never says/does anything but slam the door behind me when I leave) actually told me I should do a cooldown because my "cooldown set was too fast". Oddly, that WAS supposed to be the cooldown--for some reason there wasn't another one in this workout. I must have gotten going on the sprint part and not slowed down enough on the rest. Thus, 3250m. Too hungry to do any more cooldown! Plus rode home in a monsoon downpour so that should count as cooldown.

My swim training lately has consisted of scanning random weeks from the Sara McLarty masters site and choosing the one I'd like to do that day. Figure it's off-season and I can do what I want!

Hey all!

Back to the routine again after being gone for 10 days - ugh, hard to get motivated!

5.5 mile run this morning. Temp was 66 degrees when I headed out - WHAT?? It was glorious after running in Kauai with temps in the 90's and humidity!

Went to the city pool I normally swim at, but it was closed due to all the storm damage from Saturday. So drove across town to another city pool (I live halfway between the two) because I am DETERMINED to be consistent with swim training again!
Once I got there I had a nice 2500 yd set!

After swimming in salt water all last week, felt weird to be back in the chlorine again.

Have a great day everyone!

Hit the trail and ran through the lagoon to state beach and then hill to the golf course and back. (10 miles with 400 ft of climbing)

Had a great tuneup race yesterday. Did the Olympic course at Carpinteria and placed 5th in my AG and 32nd overall. I had a very solid run which adds some good confidence for the marathon in 2 weeks.

Train well cool kids

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
