Comments: Small race but there was still some traffic at the start, but things pretty quickly stretched out. It was really windy on the out sections. Just before the last turn-around there was a flock of geese on the path! I did not like that - I was just feet away from them. They were more interested in eating than bothering me though. What would you do differently?: I probably shouldn't have tried as hard to get to 9:30s on the first out section. I think I spent more energy than I should have fighting that wind. Need to stay more mentally focused in the real race. I did get the pace back at the end though so I was happy about that. Post race
Warm down: Walked to food area, back for awards, and then back to the food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Pacing and to some extent the wind, but I think it was mostly pacing through the wind that kept me from averaging closer to 9:30. However, I was purposely trying to keep from running my race here and having the marathon suffer (like I think I did 2 years ago). Event comments: This was a fun event as usual and the towpath is great place to run. Runbucks puts on nice events and I would run more of them if I lived closer. We got Finisher sweatshirts at the end instead of medals. I liked that because I don't care so much about medals for shorter than marathon distance. Last updated: 2014-10-09 12:00 AM

Got up a little after 5 to find the water was off. Got dressed, took the dog out, and hit the road. Got turned around at the bottom of the mountain due to a water main break (that explains the lack of water!) so I went up over the mountain to the highway. I ate my bagel with pb and a banana in the car. Got there right about 8am.
None other than walking over to registration, back to the car, and then back to the start line.
