Subject: Visiting Denver

I'm visiting Denver the 20-21 of June. Any tips or places to see with a 13 yr old daughter?  I've never been and no NOTHING of the city.  Thanks in advance.

- The Mint: only two in the country
- Denver Art Museum: Great museum with lots of fun kids stuff
- Museum of Nature & Science: Dinosaur bones, gems, IMAX, etc
- Botanic Gardens
- REI Flagship (downtown)
- 16th St Mall: downtown fun people watching and tourist shops
- Red Rocks Amphitheater: One of a kind...open during the day
- Miles and miles of hiking trails...
- Evergreen: cute mountain town
- Rockies game: Coors field is awesome for a game

Plenty to do! Ask if you want more.

Ted

P.S. When downtown (uptown actually) my kids love eating at Steuben's

Depends on her interests.  Here are some suggestions.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  Current exhibits

Denver Zoo (right next to DMNS)

Denver Art Museum. Current exhibits

Denver Mint (mint as in money production)

Dinosaur Ridge (lots of fossils, including some in situ)

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum

Elitch's Amusement Park

Lakeside Amusement Park

Water World Amusement Park

Denver Urban Farm

If she likes outdoor stuff like hiking, etc.:

Chatfield Reservoir, Jefferson County Open Space, and Golden Gate Canyon State Park have lots of hiking trails.

Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs (about an hour south)

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater

Rocky Mountain National Park (about 90 minutes northwest)

For shopping:

Cherry Creek North Cherry Creek Mall and REI in central Denver

Park Meadows Mall in south Denver

Flatirons Crossing in Broomfield (~30 min. NW of Denver)

Colorado Mills in west Denver, Southlands SE of Denver

Very hot weather is predicted.  Sunscreen and lots of water is highly recommended!!  Hope you have a fun trip.

Ted/Mary,

Thanks so much.  That's exactly the type of info I was looking for.  I'm sure shopping is going to be high on (her) list. lol

Thanks, again.  Best to you both.  jeff

If you go downtown and walk around, chances are you will see someone smoking pot. Might want to prepare yourself for a conversation.

Have fun!

Lookup Mtn/Buffalo Bill's Grave. Although the road up might be closed Sat Morning for a bike event.

It's odd, but I didn't smell any pot the whole time I was there.  And I've smelt pot up close and personal.  Or does the 'new' pot smell different?
