Pro  6838      Tejas |  Subject: PCOJ…WTF? I think as an online community we are getting off track. I'm seeing a lot of direct shots being taken at BT members from both sides of the political spectrum. Any way we can dial it back to some modicum of civility? I think we were there a few months ago, but it seems that we've slipped a bit in recent months. My left leaning amigos would have screamed to have me banned if I had posted the thread I wrote a few days ago. Just putting it down in writing served as a therapeutic venting and I face palmed at how pointless and hurtful it was after writing it. I deleted it. We disagree politically and will not change each others ideology. Let's focus on dragging the politicians through the dirt, not each other and our beliefs. |

One thing I hate about people and politics is those who stand by and do nothing, or won't have the hard discussions. But like you said that doesn't mean we cant be civil about it. Anyways when are we having that beer? Just had a 7.3 mile run after work and I'm thirsty! |

Then if you want to switch it up there is a distillery across the street that has some great whiskey and vodka. Then there is a place to get a great steak / pizza. Let's meet there?

hehe, I'm in. I might seem a little testy at times on here, but I truly love the discussions and like to try and force people to defend their positions/beliefs. I have changed my views on many things because of the direct interaction I've had with folks here on BT because of people doing the same thing back at me. |

I mean this in the nicest possible way: I don't care what your opinions are. Now, you might think that's a hostile attitude but it really isn't. I will use a personal anecdote to illustrate. When I was dating my current husband (#2), he told me early on that it wouldn't work between us because I wouldn't like his political opinions or beliefs. I replied: What makes you think your opinions are important to me? They matter only to you. I don't care what you think and I don't expect you to care about my opinions; they matter to no one but me and often they aren't important even to me. It didn't take him too long to accept that I didn't care in the nicest way possible. Call it benign indifference. Or call it whatever you want - I don't care! In summary, if you think my views are about you or directed at you, you are mistakenly assuming that I care. And that hurts.  |
