20 minutes of easy swimming, much of it breaststroke, in hotel pool. Not that sore but just really tired and feel slightly sick. Pretty much after every HIM, I'm not really sore but feel like I'm coming down with a cold/flu for a couple of days, and I feel like that now. Maybe I did pick up something at the race or on the plane, or just a weird mix of adrenaline, gu, and jellyfish toxin working its way out of the system.

Here's to a good week of recovery and sloth, in my case!

Congrats to all who raced yesterday. Sounds like you all did very well!

I ran an easy mile today and was quite happy about it. First time I've run since a fall about a month ago in which I broke at least one rib and cracked a couple of others (in my mid right back area). Not a particularly fun month, but I've tried to learn from the experience. No, I don't recommend anyone go out and mess up their ribs just for the experience So last week I was able to start working on a stationary bike a bit, and now I know I can start to build back the run. I'm afraid the swim might still be a ways off as I really messed up my right lat muscles as well and don't think I'm ready to try to "pull" in the pool. But I can do stationary bike and run again!

20 mile bike ride this afternoon. Nice day, but a little breezy on the coast.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
