Only about 6 weeks to go until this race; who's officially in? This will be my first HIM, and since I'm from the flatlands I know I will suffer on the hills. :) Anyone with any advice for final prep for this race?

I'll be there!  Yes, you will probably suffer if you bike exclusively on the flats..are you doing any hill work to prepare?  My "hill work" consists of riding loops of the Acosta Bridge in downtown Jacksonville; so you can take the hill part loosely.

Make sure you've got appropriate gearing; a 25 or 27 on the back will help loads to keep you spinning and seated on the rollers.

I've already forgotten the pain of doing this race last year, and I'm looking forward to next month..hope to see you there!

Is anyone who is going to be in town on Friday want to drive the bike course? I'll have a car, but it would be nice to have someone help navigate the course.

What time are you looking to drive the course?
I'll be in town Friday all day but I'm also helping out with gear bags.

I've done the half course last year so I'm familiar with the course itself.

Mike (G8RLA94) will be over there Friday afternoon as well.  I'm working all day then have to get kids to their weekend activity places.  I should get into Clermont around 700 Friday evening.  Do we have a BT dinner planned anywhere yet??

I don't think so yet; we need some local input for a good place to go.

I can provide better times Thursday night (10/18) when I find out what I need to do Friday

As for places to eat, I have eaten at a couple of restaurants in 'Castle Hill'? There's like a TGI Friday's. It's been a year so I'm not sure what has popped up since. It's growing at such a rate.

My wife and I are doing the super sprint - my buddy is doing the half. We are coming in on Fri at around 5pm....I will be wearing my BT trisuit - the XXXL - unmistakable!

This is the first tri for both my wife and I.

Hope to see you there!

How about a Saturday night greedy pig out  BT get-together?  I think I'm going to be down Saturday alone, with my family coming down Sunday morning, so I'd enjoy meeting some new faces.    I know many people like pasta for their "evening before" meal; I'm not a pasta eater, but there's gotta be someplace that has a varied menu that will suit.

There are a bunch of restaurants on Hwy 50; off the top of my head I remember a Cracker Barrel, several chain restaurants like Chili's/Ruby Tuesdays/interchangeable clones of same.

Sound good to anyone else?  Any suggestions?

As Teresa already pointed out, make that Friday night..I obviously wasn't looking at my calendar when I wrote the post above.    I emailed the homestay guy where I usually stay with the same mistake; he was a little perplexed that I'd want to come down after the race and stay.

Anyway. I will be in town Friday during the day; anyone who'd like to meet Friday night post here.  I'll be the one with the glazed Alzheimer's stare.

I would love to meet Friday night. We are getting in around 5pm....I was planning to go to the pre-race meeting at 6pm at waterfront park...Is this a good idea or is it a waste of time? This is our first tri and we need some direction.

We are staying at the marriott ocoee and it si right on route 50 so if someone picks a place we will show up - My wife (claudie) and I.

I am really looking forward to meeting you all.

How about Outback, 7 PM?  (I feel like I do when suggesting restaurants to my family..it's like pulling teeth to get anyone else to suggest one, but they can sure knock my suggestions!)

Chime in, people, agree, disagree...
