I actually never realized that Kinvara were low-drop shoes until I'd been wearing them for a while. Originally got them as racing flats, but they're so comfortable I would happily train in them full time. Unfortunately, the insoles don't seem to be very durable--they tend to fall apart after about 3 months of running in tropical humidity. I think because I'm light and not a heel striker, a lot of running shoes end up being too heavy and rigid to let me go through my natural stride, and just don't feel comfortable. I don't have that issue with the Kinvara.
Have been lucky to have had few issues with my calf cramps over the years--I know a lot of people do. It is usually glutes/hamstrings that stage protests in my case. |
