If it's a double choclate stout it is.

Tons of carbs and a good reminder to reward yourself once in a while.....

Was at a party all day yesterday. Drank all afternoon and then came home and did a "DRUNK" run... Not sure about a recovery drink but it sure isn't an endurance formula!

A good Hefeweizen has always been a great recovery drink for me... full of carbs and unfiltered for a touch of protein!

If beer is not a recovery drink, I think I'll have to find another sport to be really bad at!

It was a Youngs, and it was fantastic. It's like a big glass of chocolate milk. You get the moustache and all.

Realistic answer .... no, there is not that much carbo. in them, especially compared to a simple energy drink like Gatorade.

Beer drinker's answer ..... yes, of course! Especially a nice frosty Guinness!

Except that "frosty" and Guiness should never be used together.  Guiness and cool are an appropriate word pair.

Be careful how much recovery you do because beer apparently has a lot of testosterone in it.

Young's? :-D I refer to it as PMS beer - alcohol & chocolate, everything you need to feel better.

Race days = beer recovery.

Agreed that frosty and Guinness should never be used in conjunction with each other. General rule of thumb is that the darker the beer, the warmer it is served.

As for the double chocolate stout, you can't be beat there...Young's makes the best, but as another hobby, I am a homebrewer as well. I have made a decent representation, but the real deal is still the best.

ever try one of those on a tredmill? I was only buzzed but I still almost fell off the thing.

but my vote is YES for mental recovery. a good solid NO for the physical side of it. Your body has enough post-race/workout toxins to deal with without adding alcohol to the mix.

No never tried it on a tredmill, I usually don't mix working out and drinking. Pretty counter productive. But funny!

If it has, it hasn't made it to MS. We have Guinness and Extra Stout. Either one is a great drink in my opinion. However, get a crappy pint that's pulled from a CO2 tap and not a Nitrogen tap, and it's just gross...
