Elite 4583 | Subject: 4.28.17 Fabulous Friday! Good morning BT! 5:45am: :30 minute easy spin 5:15am: :45 minutes 5X5 strength + core It is freeeeezing here in the desert today! We might get SNOW FLURRIES! Arrrgh! Spring is sure taking its time getting here. However, the weekend looks promising--up into the 60s. Rich...good luck in the Oly! Karen...good luck with the moving! Oh, I'm about 5.5 hours from Boise actually--would be kind of a long drive just to do some cannonballs! Lol! One of my favorite 1/2 marathons, Race to Robie Creek, is in Boise. Thinking about tackling that beast next year. I think I've done it 4 or 5 times. Have a great day!

So, my first wetsuit legal race is this weekend. I'm thinking of how transition will go (there's only one transition area), and what to do with the wetsuit after the swim. I'd welcome any suggestions. Have a great day. |

Extreme Veteran 959 Greenwood, South Carolina | Subject: RE: 4.28.17 Fabulous Friday! Been in Milwaukee all week for a convention so haven't posted much. Did my speed workout this morning. Friday is usually my long run but got in at 12:30 AM and got up at 4:30 AM. To my surprise, I had a good pace on my run with the limited sleep and travel schedule I had. Did some core work and weights afterwards. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. Kim. May 6 is right around the corner for you. Hope you in the zone and ready. |

I usually start taking my wet suit off as I'm running out of the water (down to my waist). Pull the rest off when you get to transition area. I will hang my suit on end of bike rack if my spot is on the end. I usually one of the first to arrive at race so I get good spot. A lot of people leave them on the ground in the transition area. Just try not to leave in the way of people racing. |

Master 8247 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: 4.28.17 Fabulous Friday! It's been such a long day I can hardly remember what workout I did this morning.... 5:20 AM One hour run with 30 minutes of 30-second pickups at HM pace. I don't think I've ever done that kind of workout before--kind of fun! But crazy hot and humid already--no snow flurries here! Low has been 80-81 this past week, with about 90% humidity at that hour of the day. 4:20 PM 3000m of swimming, again squeezed into half of lane 1 (sharing with one of the maintenance guys, plus kids' swim club in the other lanes). Plus last-minute moving related panic--getting everything out of cabinets, worrying about how to secure the cats, worrying that my new place won't be quiet enough. (I've had some noisy-neighbor horror stories in the past--I've never been able to handle lack of sleep well, even when not training, and it was way beyond annoyance--ruining my health and work life.) Actually think a HIM would be more relaxing than this move! Four-day weekend here; colleagues all headed out to do something fun, and I am moving. Plus a three-hour trainer ride Sunday. After being sick all of February, spending spring break apartment hunting and doing a medical check, and now this, I am kind of starting to feel sorry for myself. Plus summer break is mainly going to consist of helping my parents with their move. Arrrgh---might be up for driving 5.5 hours to do naked cannonballs by the time that's done! I imagine those are some pretty quiet roads! Wetsuit--either hang it over the rack in your transition spot, or fold it up and put it in a bag (some IM brand races ask you to do this and give you a bag for it). Don't leave it out where people can step on it or run over it with their bikes! And write your name somewhere in it--it's easy to get it mixed up with someone else's otherwise if you hang it on the rack! Edited by Hot Runner 2017-04-28 8:38 AM |

233 Ventura, California | Subject: RE: 4.28.17 Fabulous Friday! 2,800 swim workout. Having some upper front shoulder pain on the left side. Also focused on sighting, and left side breathing. Since St George is a counter clockwise swim and I like to see the shore lines when I breath. Followed up by a windy 5k. This weekend I will be working on some transition work, flying bike mount/dismount, and a mild bike ride. Its windy time out here, been 25-35mph winds all week long non-stop 24-7. After this its rest time, will be traveling out to St George next Thursday. This morning I woke up to spins, dizziness, nausea and general unsteadiness. Checked my BP and it was high normal with a pulse of 42. That is normal resting pulse for me, the pressure is also fairly normal as a recent trend. That is the first time that has happened and it scared the crap out of me, I almost went to the hospital. But after some coffee and doughnuts things seemed to get better, blood sugar crash?? Lets just hope that doesn't turn into a reoccurring issue. So, my first wetsuit legal race is this weekend. I'm thinking of how transition will go (there's only one transition area), and what to do with the wetsuit after the swim. I'd welcome any suggestions. I always hang mine from the bike rack in my transition spot. I wrap the bar with a bright colored t-shirt so I can see it clearly coming into transition, I lay the wetsuit over the shirt so it does not get any rust/debris on it. (Except this upcoming HIM will require stuffing into a drop bag for transport for later pickup.) Edited by rjcalhoun 2017-04-28 6:14 PM |

Master 3127 Sunny Southern Cal | Subject: RE: 4.28.17 Fabulous Friday! Did 45 minutes on the trainer this morning, some light interval work if that's possible. Cut my planned hour short due to sleeping in. Tonight I swam 30 minutes. It's beer time now on Friday night. |
