drink more, earlier.
Train more consistently
Post race
Warm down:

Liter of water
yogurt smoothie
banana
walk to meet family
stretch/sit
Liter of gatorade
more stretching/sitting
pretzels and half liter of water in car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hamstring cramped up big time at 23.5miles. I had to sit down on the sidewalk. I thought I'd have a DNF for sure. Somehow, after stretching and massaging the back of my right leg, on my second attempt to stand up. I was able to walk then start running again, although not at the same pace.

If it makes you feel any better, your marathon pace is faster than mine and you stopped and worked out a cramp

Congrats on your race and I'm sure you are glad you didn't DNF

Congratulations on a great race!  I was out there cheering for y'all at Lake Calhoun just before mile 5.  I shoulda had a BT sign.  What perfect weather you had for the race.  Did you enjoy it?
