Gasparilla 2007 BT-palooza repeat performance?

Master  1978     Chelmsford, Massachusetts |  Subject: Gasparilla 2007 BT-palooza repeat performance?Hey, it's a little less than three months til the Gaspy weekend and I was wondering who's in for this year's Gasparilla craziness. We had a BLAST last year...check the pics out... http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/photo-thumbnails.asp?albumid=1876 So...who's in this year? I'm sooooo there. I think most of our local Tampa BT faction will probably at least come out for the fun times, if not the racing. But definitely post here if you think you'd wanna come out and make the repeat performance even better than last year's!! Important info... We'll probably do a Friday welcome thing, and a Saturday pre-race dinner just like last year. OK SO WHO'S IN??? |

And I remember last February like it was yesterday, ready to die at the 2 mile mark. There was a thread in Tri Talk about Gasparilla and Mardi Gras a while back, I'll link this back on that thread once I find it. |

I've already registered for the half and I have my hotel reservations for Friday and Saturday night with the expectation that there would be some sort of BT craziness going on one, or both, of those nights. Since the finish line is about 50 meters from my front door, and i wont get any sleep because TNT people 15 ft. from my bedroom window yelling and ringing cowbells, and have become fond of running im in too. I'm thinking about taking a 1/2 day at work and taking my time at the expo. Ok, everyone meet at Lawrence's for beer (pre-race) and showers (post-race) Christine I see grat minds do think alike. I just had the 4-day trip to San Francisco for a race and I'm going to be gone two or three weekends in May, so i feel bad taking more time away from the kids for another race. Oh - and I just remembered we're going to Disney the weekend before Gasparilla so I can't really lobby for it to be a family vacation weekend either. |

| New user 2 | Subject: RE: Gasparilla 2007 BT-palooza repeat performance? DOH!! I have been lurking for a little bit here. I live in Brandon, and am a grad student at USF. Prior to grad school I was extremely active and was frequently racing sailboats, moutain biking and scuba diving. Well got into grad school and that was cut back drastically as was working out for those activities. About to transition back into small boat racing (brand new melgis 24!) and need to get back into shape. The Clearwater half ironman really appealed to me and my girlfriend and so we picked up the training a bit more. Saw this thread and became excited and started to mark the date as my first event. Unfortunately, this event conflicts with the first major race series the new boat will be in as I can't make it! Oh well, right now I am thinking about doing a Fort DeSoto duathlon in February. Sounds like you have a busy racing season of your own, besides the tri stuff. Sorry you won't be able to make it to Gaspy, but definitely keep the parade weekend on your schedule (last weekend in January). A few of us Tampa area BT peeps try to hang out for the parade weekend too, so bring the GF and have some fun with us! Also, don't forget to mark April 29th on your calendar too, that's St. Anthony's weekend, and there will be another huge BT gathering for that weekend as well. Keep it in mind! |

The Hyatt? I almost hit Donavon McNabb as he was going back to the Hyatt one morning. As Gasparilla gets closer we'll set a tighter schedule.
