I think the new Ipod shuffle looks perfect for running.  It is just a clip with buttons.   Anyone have one that can report on it?  Does it stay put when running?  Ideally I'd like to clip it to the waist of my running shorts and not have it bounce around or pull my pants down

I don't have one but my Mom does. Yes, it is just a clip w/ buttons. It is lighter than when I put a key in my running shorts pocket so it should be fine fastened to your shorts. My Mom used her's hooked to her sling while walking.

Yes, I have just purchased the new shuffle. At first, I thought, "what's the point???" I was totally against the shuffle and couldn't think of a single good reason to buy one, but I thought wrong.

I came to a realization a few weeks ago that I really didn't need to be lugging around my huge iPod 4th generation, 20gb model around on my arm when I could be using one of those enny-meanie, teeny-weenie iPod shuffles. I really like it that I don't have to strap anything to my arm anymore. I am running in cold weather here in Chicago (not lately though) so I have been wearing a Nike Half-zip running jacket that has a small zip pocket in the chest. It fits perfectly there and even if it does move around, it feels like a penny moving around in my pocket...it is barely noticeable.

I also realized that I didn't have to have every song I owned on that iPod. I basically just ran to playlists that I set up, so I just import my favorite playlists to my shuffle and I am happy. I also feel like the shuffle is a million times more durable than my 4th Gen iPod with a spinning hard drive inside of it. Flash media is the way of the future anyhow....

Thanks for the replies.  I have a 5gb hard drive based player I can sell on ebay for just about the price of a new shuffle.   I think it is a done deal

why would you want to sell your old iPod? I'd keep it and buy a new shuffle...they're only $79 anyhow...

I have the shuffle and like it.  I just clip it on the inside of my jacket pocket and that works just fine.  It definetely is lightweight.

Because I haven't used it for 6 months and I hate armband holders....    Besides that $75 could get me the HRM I have been wanting.

keep it get an FM transmitter for it and use it as a new "cd player" and just get the shuffle.  I mean how many times on long drives do you find yourself switching CD's now you can just hit play and drive.

Yup, have the 2nd Gen iPod Shuffle.

If nothing else, I really like that the engineering staff at Apple finally figured out that a battery operated device NEEDS AN OFF SWITCH. The whole "Idle Period Shutoff" just never seemed to work very well with my Mini.

I clip it just about anywhere and it does stay put. I took the strap off of my iPod Mini Carrier and can still wear the Shuffle on my arm.

I like it much better than running with my Mini.

i have the older version of the shuffle. i like it but i kinda wish i could get one of these instead. im going to have to buy either an arm band for it or a belt clip and it kinda dosent even seem like its worth it when the new shuffle has a clip built in!

If all goes well with my plan of strategic hinting, I'll have one on December 25th.

My 3G iPod seemed so small when I got it, two and a half years ago. Now it seems like I'm packing around a brick in my hand . . .

Don't buy the clip for the older version. In my opinion it is completely worthless. It never holds on while I am running and I just end up holding my shuffle anyway. Just my opinion though.

I have a 2gb nano and my wife had an old shuffle. She was running on the treadmill and somehow static shocked herself and it shorted out the ipod. She is about to buy a new shuffle with the clip in the next few days so I'm glad to hear that everyone likes them. I rarely run with mine but it's nice every now and then.

I picked up a new Shuffle as well and echo what everyone else has said except for one MAJOR gripe.

Okay, I have a LOT of music, but I don't use iTunes to manage it and I don't want to. I do, however, need to use iTunes to manage the Shuffle (if I need to restore it or enable disk use or whatever). The problem with this is that if you want to put your music onto the Shuffle, you need to use iTunes to manage your music OR use a 3rd party program like Yamitunes. I chose the latter.

The REAL problem is that when I then go back into iTunes and the Shuffle is plugged in, it says "oh, there's a bunch of crap on this Shuffle that's not in my database, so I'M GOING TO DELETE IT ALL." It does this without confirming with you or warning you...IT JUST DELETES IT ALL. The only way to avoid doing this is to NEVER OPEN ITUNES.

While sometimes practical, it isn't ALWAYS practical. The other iPods have a "manage my music manually" button in iTunes that the Shuffle doesn't have. This is a problem.

Overall, it makes me maaaaaaaaaaad, very angry, very very angry.

Other than that, it's fantastic.

I have a 1st gen. iPod shuffle and I love it. The armband works great for running, but I am sure the 2nd. gen with the clip would be even easier (and cheaper!) I totally recommend the shuffle. Just wish it could hook up to the Nike+ ...

I like it to run with because it is light. I have an older one and use it for swimming too (I keep it in an Otterbox to protect it from the water). It is great.

I don't think you are using itunes the right way. I've always been able to control what goes in and out of my shuffle, manually.....I'm thinking that you have it wrong.
