Comments: I started the run off in the middle of the pack and spent a lot of time weaving through the crowd before finding a comfortable pace. I was hoping to keep my HR in the 160 range for the first 3 miles. I backed off my pace a few times but then just went with what felt good. My last 3 miles I felt pretty good. I stayed within my limits but pushed it pretty hard. I wanted to break 43:00 but it wasn't in the cards for today. 1/2 mile laps were: LAP TIME MHR AHR 1 - 3:37 - 164 - 149 2 - 3:24 - 168 - 165 3 - 3:36 - 172 - 172 4 - 3:36 - 168 - 165 5 - 3:38 - 174 - 166 6 - 3:38 - 167 - 166 7 - 3:38 - 171 - 168 8 - 3:36 - 175 - 171 9 - 3:28 - 178 - 176 10 - 3:30 - 182 - 173 11 - 3:36 - 181 - 168 12 - 3:24 - 186 - 161 13 - :43 - 185 What would you do differently?: Started towards the front and pushed the first 3 miles a bit harder. Post race
Warm down: Warm down consisted of getting to the bathroom as fast as possible. After that I went back to the finish and cheered Freckle Face in. Hung out with Bridget and talked tri stuff for a while, ate a few apples then went back to the brother-in-laws for turkey dinner!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Training mostly and needing more experience in 10K races. This was my first one. Event comments: Although the organization was pretty poor for the race I will probably do it again next year because I like the course. Last updated: 2006-11-17 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:15, made coffee for Karen and got her out the door for work. Fed the horses, woke the kids up, made breakfast (oatmeal), packed the car and headed out to pick up mother-in-law at 7:00. Drove to Syracuse.
Arrived at the race a little late due to some icy roads and accidents coming out of Binghamton. I called my brother-in-law and had him meet me at the race to bring my kids and his mother back to his house.
A little more hectic than I had hoped but such is ife with kids!!
I ran about 1 1/2 miles and used the toilet at Dunkin Donuts because there was only 2 toilets for 600 people at the race site. POOR POTTY PLANNING!!!
Ran back to the race start and stretched out for about 10 minutes. I probably could have placed myself a bit more towards the front for the start.
