You can do it!

My long ride this weekend (4.5 hours) was in 30F temps, 15F with windchill. Wind warning was in effect, with 25mph sustained winds gusting up to 40mph. It was even snowing out for about 10 miles or so. But the snow didn't stick, it wasn't dangerous. And I was with many others on our collegiate cycling team, so there's always safety in numbers. But it was still a cold ride!

Happy training everyone!!

Looks liek this week is going to be tough - if anyone else is on the BT 20 week plan, there's a bike LT test and a tough run as well!

chile7473 - 2007-01-21 9:20 PM I had a ok week. I had a little trouble getting myself out in the cold. I would like to ask for last years winter back as this year it is freezing. We had no rain at all last year! This year I am running in sleet and the wind chill is supposedly 26 degrees. Yet as I cry cold I know others are having worse weather.

I was thinking about you on Saturday as I was cranking up Usery! I figured you all bailed on the Tortilla Flats ride, but I went out in the rain and got in my 73 miles. It was cold and wet but manageable. I ran Sunday in the rain, but I'm used to that having moved here from Connecticut.

I really admire all of you that are training through tough winters. We here in FL have had a reoerd-breaking warm winter. Yesterday is got up to 84 degress.

Last year the weather was great, too. I had to wear tights on the bike 2 times all last winter. Of course the down side to all of this is our horrible 5+ months of summer.

For me, IMAZ has been great motivation to get out there and train. Last winter I didn't ride outdoors until March!! Fortunately it has been a  mild winter so far for Conn. I'm hoping I can escape without having to do anything on the trainer longer than ~2-2.5 hours.

That is one of the major reasons I chose this race, training during the summer in FL can be miserable.

Yeah, my ride yesterday got canceled half way through. 20 miles in it started raining bad so I rode to my in-laws house and called my husband for a SAG ride home. An hour later it was SNOWING! We got about 3 inches at our house. The pic below shows why I wasn't riding home.

Damn! Don't bring that stuff with you on race day (though I'm planning on it being about 100000000 degrees then...).

Still feeling the effects of Saturday's 3hr ride coupled with yesterdays 2h05 run. Next weekend is huge for me - 4h45 brick + 2h25 run!

Please someone get the big orange ball to work better, it is putting out light but not enough heat. Pilgrim and I are doing a 190 mile brevet in 2 weeks that rides from Casa Grande and through Tucson to Saguaro National Park and back. Anybody want to join us?

I hear ya on the snow sucking!  I had a Duathlon on Saturday.  Run/bike/run/bike.  All in the snow.  I won my agegroup and was 9th overall.  Then a 3:45 trainer ride followed by a 30 minute run in the snow on Sunday.  Good weekend of training.  Rest week this week.  I need it.

Just started speed work this week after 8 months of base work! Swam 4300 yards yesterday in 1:00:07 and rode 5x5mile repeats with 1 mile recovery spin at AT, for a total of 47 miles @ 23.3mph average. I haven't ridden that fast since SOMA!

Don't forget during IMAZ to say hello as you pass me on your 2nd & 3rd loops, I'll still probably be on loop #1. Undecided

I was searching for a 2.4 mile OW swim before IMAZ and found this one. It's on April 1st and at Lake (un)Pleasant.

Did a 1 mile aerobic TT on the run and brought my pace down to 7:14 from 7:38 in 2 weeks.  Happy about that since I want to run 8 minute miles at IMAZ.

Hey, I was out there on the Beeline today too. I think you may have gone by me right while I was riding with 2 other guys from the tri club.

What kind of bike do you have?

Hey chile! I wasn't out on the BeeLine today, I rode from Fountain Hills up to the Carefree Highway and all the way out to the Lake Pleasant turn off and back.
I ride a Litespeed Saber.

Killer weekend just went by...
4h47 brick on the brutally hilly & windy Natchez Trace Park (4h17 / 30min) on Saturday, managed just under 80 miles w/15-20mph wind which constantly shifted direction.

Yesterday was a 2h05 run (just over 13 miles, again with the damn hills & wind).

Today I feel like death. I'm pretty sure my BLAC (blood lactic acid content) exceeds the legal limit.

16 mile run yesterday. I'm feeling great about my run fitness, still. Bike is still lagging a bit but I'm definitely working on it. The swim isn't really a concern. I'm not going to bust my butt to save myself 10 minutes on my swim. I'd rather bust my butt and save 30 minutes on the bike or run!

This is supposed to be a recovery week for me, but because of the weather 2 weeks ago and travel last week and over the week-end, I don't need it. This will be a full week for me.

Had a good week last week as it was a semi-rest week with a makeup long bike ride in there.  Got everything done including the long bike that was cut short due to bad weather, then that was finished up on the Computrainer. So a 4:30 ride and a 30 min transition run.

9+45 for a  rest week and a missed 75 min run that I will make up today.

I am feeling more confident as the race date approaches....I just need warmer weather (and no rain) so I can get more outdoor miles in on my bike.

Well, finished this past week with 180 miles on the bike, 30 miles on the run, 15,000 yards in the wet! Volume is increasing weekly according to my training schedule, 100 mile+ rides EVERY Saturday until further notice!

Sounds like some great progress & lots of motivation...good job!

I'm coming off an R & R week, felt maybe I had done too little but had a 2 good runs today & the hammy is feeling fine so the reduced time was helpful.

This week is start to 2nd to the last of 4 week training blocks, really hope to build the run volume and bike distance over the next 3 weeks. Hope to follow the R & R week with a 112/4 rehersal brick.

This has become a part time job & still gets challenging to fit in all the planned training.

Well, thanks for jockstrapping.

I just did a lap of the run course in 59:35. I will not be running that pace at IMAZ, but I felt good and ran well.
