Sorry to hear about your foot riorio.

Last week was pretty good for me. I substituted a short elliptical workout for one run and did 4 others, as well as 5 swims. There were only a few short bike commute trips, but I also got an hour on the rollers. I've had a decent week so far this week too. I'm going to be away for a while now and I'm not sure about internet access either until I get back. Keep on training smart everyone!

Finished the week with my first Tri.

Here is the race report.

My leg is feeling much better with no pain in the shin. I learned that I must work on my open water swimming. Other than that, had a blast! speed improved on bike and running from previous performances.

Jorge,

I plan on training smart from here on out! My #1 training goal is to spend more time in open water and get used to it so I can swim with proper form.

Besides this, is there any advice you can give me? I have about 6-7 weeks before then next sprint triathlon in this series. I'm heathly again (shin is healed) and ready to start back into work mode.

Ok another week is in the logs and training was good for most part. I missed my Long run but I volunteered to help at the New England Multisport Expo so I couldn't do it but besides that I had two great bike sessions and my running is coming back strong. My swimming is kind of in a plateau but it is somehow expected. I need to start pushing a bit harder to try to break down that barrier and finally be able to swim a bit faster. Plus I’ll have a one on one swim analysis with Dede Griesbauer (female pro) to work on ways to improve my efficiency speed.

This coming week more of the same, 5x swim, 3x bike, 4-5x run.

How are the rest of you doing?

I had a good week though I was humbled on  my long hilly ride yesterday. Maybe just the end of a long week that included 2 BRICKS (1 indoor so I don't reallly count it) It looked like this: Swim 2x, Run 3x (2x  as BRICKS) Bike 3x, Spin 1, Yoga 1 Hr.  THis week 2x swim, 3x run, 3x Bike.

Not a good training week for me. I got a chest cold and ended up skipping 5 days of training including a 5 mile race. I will ease back into training and hopefully be back to normal by the end of the week. How is everyeone else doing?

I'd say that I had a rough week, too.  Sorry you've been sick, Jorge; the Cambridge 5-miler was lovely yesterday if that's the race that you missed.  I just ran it at a steady 9:10 min/mile pace and was mostly happy with my finish time.

Lots ahead this week at work as well, so I'm just going to do what I can and try not to worry about the rest.

C'est la vie...  -Sunny

I haven't posted much but I've been checking in and it's great to see the progress you are all making. Sorry you got sick Jorge- luckily cold & flu season should be gone soon

I just got back from the foot doctor- good news is that the stress fracture is healing well- better than the average person, he said. But he didn't give me a definite answer regarding starting running. He is a non-athlete (so he told me) and i don't think he understands my desire to get back to running.

The positive out of the past few weeks is that my biking miles and swim times increased.

Last week I did 5 bike rides and 2 swims.

The week ahead I plan on about the same but with some short walking/jogging sessions also.

I am still thinking about doing a tri on the 22nd- it's a reverse with only 2 mile run so it's possible.

Have a great week everyone and stay healthy !

Hey don't 12 weeks = 3 months???? Isn't the challenge over Wink

I managed to get past some early season injuries by sticking pretty close to Jorge's advise. I am now combining the end of  Half Marry Plan  (race is 4/22) w/ the beginning of a  20 week HIM plan that will culminate at Timberman on 8/19.

While my 2007 mantra is "Train Smart, Race Fast" I will  be moving on from posting here. I wish you all the best for the season and would like to sincerely thank Jorge for taking the time to share all of his great advice. You will all be wise to continue to heed his advice, I will!

Thanks to you Jorge I am off to a great start. I'll see you at Timberman!

Hello all, I am reporting a few days late, but doing so nevertheless Last week of training went very well as I logged 4x swim, and 5x bike and run. I've entered the final prep for my 1st race (FL70.3) and this month will be a building phase to get myself ready for it. I am very happy how my fitness is coming along and I think I am doing a good job managing my training volume, but still the toughest two week of the months are ahead of me so I’ll have to be careful and listen to my body!

How are the rest of you doing?

Everyone-

I've missed updating everyone the last couple of weeks. I'm still up to keeping in touch past the 3 months using this thread.

Where am I?

I now have my own tri-bike and I started working on my Peak Phase training for a race May 20th, but hit health constraints this week. I developed a head&chest cold monday and it has side-lined me this week as I try to recover enough to participate in a 35mi bike road race tomorrow. I'm going to use this more as a moderate to tempo workout than an all out effort. I want to get a feel for the bike on the open road, but don't want to damage myself (35 mi would be a 10 mi increase from my longest ride).

Over the last week, I have put in some OWS to get comforable and I now have some working points to get  my swimming better. I've completed a bike LTHR test and a running time trial. I'm happy with both results.

I'm also hooked and planning for a HIM next March.

I'm doing the Athena Challenge now, so I'm moving on...

As for race results, none yet, but I have my first outing at a B race super-sprint swim, regular sprint bike + run on May 13th.  You'll be able to see how it goes in my RR's

Cheers, -Sunny
