Two things -
Ten pounds down ---- 90 to go!!!
And the date of my first tri is, WAS going to be on 7-8-07 in Shawnee Kansas. My sister (after a two and a half year engagement) has announced that she is setting her wedding date for 7-7-7. I guess I better look for a different race - any suggestions in the St. Louis / Southern Illinois area.

Lori

www.trifind.com - it lists races all over the country by state

There are races in Decatur, Effingham, St Louis & Springfield (MO) all around that time.

Thanks Guys!!
I knew how to look at the schedule, I just wondered if there is something specific to look for in the course, size, ect. that would make one better than another in regards to a FIRST race. The one I had planned was nice because I was going to go with someone I know and he had completed that course last year.
I'll do some checking and let you all know the big day. Today I am rearranging furniture the painter is coming in the a.m. and my knee is hurting really bad - I'm hoping that is just because the cold air has moved into the area. I Babble!! Stop!! Breathe!!
Thanks All !!

I am a big slacker.  Although I did bring workout clothes to work with me today, but it is 14 degrees outside and I still haven't purchased a Trainer for the bike I haven't purchased yet.  I hate snow and ice for the last two weeks I have been hounding my wife to move to Tuscan, just to get away from patchy crap that has been lingering here for a month now.  I still have Chrismas lights up that are frozen to the gutter on my house that I can't take down.

My apologies to anyone who has dropped a line by my log that has gone unresponded.  They are apprecitated.  Grades have come and gone so I should be able to return the good vibes.

Had a child down with the lurgi, took some time off work to look after him, my training became extremely patchy but there was no real way to do anything serious.

But, I'm back in the fold trained at lunchtime today and going swimming tonight, going to see if I can swim 800m without stopping tonight.

There's a new bike on it's way to my LBS for me, my old one was "Beyond Economical Repair" apparently I'd ridden the poor thing to death in my youth.

It's not Bike Porn in any way, shape or form it's here if you're interested I don't even know what colour it's going to be, that's how little I care.

Anyway, not lost the appetite for it and I'm past the 1 month stage so it must be sticking.

To Beer, or not to beer -- that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the pint to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous cocktails
Or to take hops against a sea of doubles
And by opposing end them.

Errrm, I mean I drink the odd couple of pints and on Saturday will no doubt drink a few more than a couple. I'm wondering if I really ought to avoid it altogether or maybe just eat less on the days I want to drink Beer.

Still going OK in SouthCentral Illinois. I had to move it indoors, I don't do cold very well! Been riding 6 miles on the AirDyne and walking 15 min twice per day on the treadmill. I was able to find some loaner equipment to get me through til warmer weather. Then I hope to start up-ping the distances and times.

I find logging stuff helps keep me motivated, I'm utterly amazed at my progress so far, I'm sure you would be at your own too.

Keep on truckin.

Dr Hammer - 2007-01-31 5:59 PM HOW COLD IS IT!?!?!? I don't envy any of you up there in the tundra!

It was 25F this morning... in MISSISSIPPI! Eeek, I know, because I raced:

I had an awesome race! A breakthrough race!

Same 10K course as Jan 13th's Mississippi Marathon 10K...

55:15... the 2nd fastest 10K of my life, fastest was when I was 22!

I shaved 3:35 off of my Mississippi Marathon 10K time. And it was COLD - 25F. I ran sub 9:00s in a race longer than 5K! This is the best footrace I've done so far, and the first race where I really felt strong and felt like I was RACING! WOOT!

Race Report:

Congratulations and WELL DONE!!!

Thanks glenn!

Did I read it right that you set a PB that equated to one you set when you were TWENTY years younger?

I say again it was an awesome job.

Okay, I'm back in the groove, got a little derailled by some sh1t at work and a birthday, but I'm on it once again.

Did a nice little run today and I will be following it up with a swim this evening, I'm going to try and extend my continuous running times.
