Kerryanne,
have you checked out the tri schedule for clermont this season, I think if I remeber right the first set of races were starting up in April, I'll probably do a supersprint or sprint out there then if you'd like to join me. I know for myself if I schedule it I have no choice but to put the work in.
I'm also glad to see so many other shy people here, I'm not sure about the rest of you but I know I can give the wrong impression at times by being shy and quiet, instead it can come off as being stuck up. Anyways, looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Amy,

I think I would really like to try for the April sprint. I hope I can get it together. I feel I could do the running and biking portions ok, but I really need to get on the swim. I found some great starter work outs on this site. I had minor surgery 12/20, but I am meeting w/ my Doc on Monday and hopefully will get the ok to get in the water!

Hi Lucy/Christine -

I tried to sign up last night but had no luck! Yesterday you were still open and today you show full. Any chance for one more to join? I am a 37 single mom with one daughter and we live in Georgia. I think your background sounds great and I would love to get some insights from you as I work towards my first sprint. Thanks - Tricia

Heh, me too. If my training plan says run, I run. (Except for last night!) I'm like a little robot. If I wasn't on a training plan there is no way I would have gone running tonight in the cold, dark, rain/snow/hail.

Kerryanne - 2007-01-04 12:36 PM Yes, I have a bike. My Hubby is a triathlete and is very supportive.

 Very cool!

There's really no "set" number- I picked 5 at random.  I don't see a problem with ya joining us.  But that's it, I have only so much time in the day and it's not fair.

welcome aboard!!

hi everyone...  Just a quickie note here.

Use your training logs on BT.  They really help.   Some time from now, you can look back and look at the improvement in your S/B/R.    You can import a free training plan that can guide you to your goals.

Does anyone have any planned races?  It'd help if you put those on your blog.  Click on the megaphone thingie and "save as draft" and it will come up on your race list.  So we can keep everyone straight.  After you do the race, do a race report and it will go onto the Race Reports forum if you make it public.  I like to print them out and put them in my book.

IT's Saturday.  I'm having a beer (or two, or three).   Long run in the AM.

later......

Kori - Sorry you're having achilles trouble. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks too for sharing your experience getting started with biking. I'm a little nervous about riding in traffic, but it seems do-able. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi ladies. Welcome to all the members of our group. Nice to "meet" everyone. I'm really excited to get started. I haven't been shunning you guys, was just away for a three day weekend.

I started my couch-to-sprint program yesterday. Figured I'd do this one for 12 weeks just to get into the swing of things. Starting out with some nice easy swim distances, and trying to make this into a habit.

-----------

Have a great day.

Hi ladies. Thought I'd take the time to tell a little more about myself.
Hmm, what to say. Already mentioned that I'm 27, living in Upstate New York. Live with my boyfriend of 7 years and a tank full of tropical fish. I'm in the middle of changing careers. Quit my job as an engineer after only a couple of years in the workforce, and went back to nursing school. I'm almost done with nursing school, will graduate in May with my RN. Finally. Yay!
Am enjoying nursing so far. Working with patients, rather than being stuck behind a computer seems like a much better fit.

My motivations for doing triathlon are to feel like an athlete, and to get healthier and lose weight. I'm about 60 lbs overweight, so in my training log, you'll see me tracking calories (I have been using a separate site - MyFoodDiary - for this, for about a year, and have lost 15 lbs so far.), and adjusting my running so as not to hurt my knees. I practice the Chi Running technique. For swimming, you might also see comments about Total Immersion swimming technique, which I have been practicing since this summer.

My plan is to go slow and steady with this. To adopt the triathlete lifestyle of integrating diet, sleep, workouts, in order to live healthfully. I'm not terribly competitive, so will be doing my first couple of sprint tri's just to finish. I can worry about getting faster once I have this habit fully ingrained.

I look forward to taking this journey with you.

-Elise

Congratulations on your career change Elise! And the weight loss so far! I never considered nursing until my dad became sick. He has cancer, and the oncology nurses are WONDERFUL. If I ever consider nursing I'd want to be an Oncology nurse. I am headed towards a career change myself. Before kids I did research in molecular biology, now I am interested in a Master's in Educationand becoming an elementary teacher. I work in special education currently (with autistic kids) and I just love being around the kids and being in the classroom. It sucks teachers are so grossly underpaid. It is HARD work!

Christine...on your blog you state you are in for a career change. What are you interested in?

Hi ladies.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Am adjusting my schedule to the new semester that started this week. This means a new tri training schedule. Thinking I may just start over from week 1 of couch-to-sprint. (At first I typed sprint-to-couch, hmmm.)

I'll be more active on our thread again starting this weekend. Hope all is well.
