Happy Monday everyone!

I lost 1.25 pounds & 5.5 inches off my body this week. So, one week of dieting paid off. Week #2...here we go! Workout was great today...I'm pumped. The best part was sitting next to a really cute guy in power pacing class hehehehe, I'm bad!

Alrighty....hope everyone has a good workout today!

Hello, I am back, somewhat. 20+hours of overtime and a sick son have taken there toll on my ability to train this week. He is feeling better, but has had a high fever since thursday. Today he is feeling better, but not done with this yet. I will catch up with everyone soon.

Tuesday......I got lots of sleep last night! This week, I don't have my son so I'm taking advantage of that & getting to bed super early! Classes started again for me this week....what better way to fall asleep than reading a boring cost accounting textbook! hahahahaha

Hope everyone has a good workout today!

Hi guys,

Sorry for my null entry for this past week. I was having lower back pains and not running. Have run a bit since. I am leaving for Nicaragua on Sunday for a week, so will not be logging my workouts until I get back. Will try to get in as many runs as I can before I leave though, I expect to get in at least one more good run if not two. You are all doing so great. I am very impressed.

Beautiful weather today...took my bike off the indoor trainer & did some maintenance, bought some goodies for it (little bags for front & rear)....washed the car on the driveway...did stuff outside. It's supposed to snow again this week, so I suppose I won't be riding to work....but it was fun today anyway.

No workout today or yesterday (too busy at work)....not motivated....I'm just really stressed & stress makes me weak. Sigh.

Hope everyone has a super weekend!

sorry  I have not been checking in as much as I should with the group right now. Things have gotten very hectic since January in my house hold. The family is currently working very hard on dealing with some issues with our daughter in school. We are working to find ways to help her achive to her potential, but lots of extra meetings with the school and doctors. No need to worry, but I appoligise for not being as hands on as I had wanted with the group.

I plan on getting the last weeks numbers up tommorow for the challenge. I have put a big dent in the run deficit I had created. If I realy bust my chops for the next 3 days, I could hit goal. I still need 20 miles in 3 days, yet I reeled off 9 before work today, so anything is possible

well just did a quick check on everyone. Fone and Amy are on vacation, so that slows the chatter down greatly. Me, I have no real excuses, so I need to be a better mentor again. I think I have become obsessed with the challenge, so I do not see me doing a formal one next month, well, maybe I could be talked into a bike one

Ok time to address the issue of my knee on the bike. I was riding a Heavy MTN Bike. Which I think caused most of the problems because the bike it self in a free bike that was given to me. It was a teenagers bike beat to death, I didn't notice till reciently that the crank was bent causeing me to peddle funny.

I know it is the bike because on a stationary bike no problems at all with my knee. I am going to go for a ride today on a road bike that I borrowed. I am going to go down to the LBS to have them help me set it up today. So I will give an update some time this evening on my knee issues.

I wasn't a chatty as usual while I was finishing up my dissertation. Now that it is done I am in a bit of a slump. A friend likened it to post-partum depression....which makes sense since it took me almost 4 years to gestate that 300 page baby of a dissertation.

The run challenge has kept me on track with the running while everything else has fallen off a bit. Next week is going to be a challenge with swimming as the gym will only be open a few hours a day due to spring break. But I am hoping that I can get back up to full speed right after my dissertation defense on April 10th.

I'm back. It was fabulous. I'm a new person now and ready to face the challenge ahead. I would really enjoy a bike challenge since I need to start focusing on the other two events in a tri... I don't know if I will make my total for the run challenge, but the week on vacation slowed it down a bit. I'm back and have already went for my morning run. I have more weight to lose now, but I will do it and I won't let it get the best of me. My mind is set.

So how is everyone? Breezy good job on getting dissertation done and hope the defense is very successful, you are up for the challenge!

Helen how are things going with you? Have you lost anymore weight?

Joe sounds like things are a little hectic around the house, we all go through those challenging times prayer and persistence pays off.

Now is the time we all need to support one another, it isn't just about us, it is about the entire group as a whole. It is great to give and receive support from each other. I'm ready. How about everyone else. You guys are great and I want all of us to be the best we can be...
I am going to be checking each persons logs everyday, it might be later in the day, but I'm gonna check and hold you accountable, I expect you to do the same with me. I'm going to try and not be so lazy on the weekends, you guys check on me too, please. Let's go guys, summer is around the corner and we all have goals we have to meet.

Can anyone tell I was a cheer coach for 6 years.....ha

You guys are all I have to get me to were I need to be for a tri, I don't have any coaches or friends here that have ever done or ever will do one....

Glad you had a great time Amy, and we will be behind you as you need it, not that you would. You are doing pretty well on your own. Soon enough you can all add the title of triathlete next to your names!!

I would consider being part of a bike challenge next month. My only request is could someone else be in charge of posting the totals at the end of the week, I have  faile miserably at that this month, as last weeks numbers are not even up yet. Hope to fix that tonight.

I'll keep track of bike totals if you want ...

Joe, i don't mind if you don't post our totals...I didn't meet my goal. Oops. But I wil ltry a mile or two on the treadmill tomorrow to see how the ankle thing is. Nothing major...I think I tweaked it when I walked the dog a few weeks ago...it was VERY icy that day. Then I ran too hard two days in a row right after. It's old age!

So...bike challenge everyone? What's a reasonable distance for spring? 200 miles?

I am up for a bike challenge, considering my 1st tri is on April 28. IT would be good to hit the bike up over the next couple of weeks before my taper.

CC, thanks for reminding me. When is everyones first race? Please post it here on this thread, and I will put them all on one post to keep track. If I am realy organized I may get it onto my short tearm goals section of my blog.

Helen thanks from me too for keeping miles for the bike challenge... I am in, if everyone is doing 200 I will try that too .

My first tri is Aug 18 unless I decide to do one in June or July, but I don't think I will feel ready.
It might be because I'm "CHICKEN".

We are gardening today, but I'm going to try and fit in a run, I am lucky, our weather is in the 70's and sunny this week.

Well my very first race of the year is over. IT was not a tri, it was a 1/2 mary. THe course was not to bad. After the first down hill it was a fairly flat course along the Clarion River here in PA. A beautiful run all in all. I suprized my self and my Training partner.

The total number of participants was around 500 people for the 1/2. With that said. I placed over all 127th. In my age group I placed 12th. Total time according to the race officals was 1:53 min. They also recorded an averge of 8:41 pace. That is what suprized me. I trained at 9:30 pace.

WIth that behind me, All I have to say is when is the next race.

Great job on the half marathon CC!

This month may be too hectic for me to participate in a sport specific challenge. The campus gym is only open a few hours a day this week due to spring break yet we are supposed to have winter-like weather starting on Wednesday. Next week is my dissertation defense. Then I have three meetings/conferences between the 16th and the 30th so I will be traveling and getting in whatever workout I can on the downtime.

If I had a trainer for my bike I'd say I could make it work but without one I can't stress myself out trying to ride in the cold or at odd hours just to get it in.

I have started on my biking goal for the month, I didn't meet my goal for running, missed it by 10 miles...I ate my way through that week. But I'm back on track and very excited about the warm weather we are having, it just makes it so much easier to get out and get your exercise in.

How is eveyone elses weather?

Well for giggles and grins, I too will shoot to see how close I can get to 200 miles this month. Keep in mind, that with my irradic training over the years, I have never put in 200 miles in a month so do not get too disheartened if we do not get too close. ]

good luck to all
