Subject: RE: What's your favorite winter sport? max - 2007-02-19 3:23 PM jwright - 2007-02-19 3:52 PM You can't forget about Snowmobiling!!! That's like saying driving to Grandma's for Sunday dinner is a sport! You ever snowmobiled 200 miles in a day? It is a sore like none other I can describe. It totally destroys you. I've done a HIM and I still am not afraid to say that snowmobiling over 150 miles in a day wipes me out. You have to be fit, otherwise you only make it out 60-80 miles a day. AND have you ever heard of the Irondog? It's a 1200 mile race in Alaska, in Feb, on a snowmobile. Try telling those guys they're not athletes. True, I would say they are not as much of athletes as the Dog mushers that later follow the same course in the Iditarod, but they are indeed athletes. Perhaps not the athletes your used to thinking of, nor are they perhaps as "fit" as a endurance atheltes, but I would say that snowmobiling is a sport. If Bass fishing, cheerleading, bowling, and curling are sports (which they are considered sports) then so is snowmobiling. Edited by greenmtnman 2007-02-19 8:17 PM
