yeah, i didn't really know who the BTers were... I asked one couple and they looked at me strange... However, I knew I hit jackpot when I saw the 'go daddy go' t-shirts and the kid w/ the hangloose t-shirt... gotta get me a custom made onesie for my boy!

Congrats to all who medaled at the swim!!! Me? How'd I do, you ask? Oh I just finished DFL in my AG and at the BOP for the 2-milers. Humbling. I really need to take a master's swim class before next season. But I think three or four BTers won their AG and several others medaled. Dave was one spot away. Nice work all!!!

Hey - I'll take your DFL to my DNF any day!!  The only upside to the whole thing was that instead of my original assumption (panic attack), it turns out I have a bronchial infection which was causing me to not be able to breathe.  Whoever thought I'd be happy to have someone tell me I had bronchitis???

But - great work by everyone!!!  And it was a lot of fun seeing everyone again... and looking forward to racine!!!

Well I only beat 7 people overall and 5 out of 7 in my a/g. Heck if I came out 2 minutes latter I would be dfl in my a/g also. Do not worry about it. 2 miles is a long way to swim.

MrTony?

The question is how long have you been swimming? how much have you been swimming lately? Do you do OWS alot? Was it your first 2 mile OWS?

Experience is huge in endurace sports. I know after the first mile I felt exhausted but when I got near shore and had a couple guys in front of me I was trying to catch I really turns on the jets and I just could not catch them. 200 meters is alot farther apart in OWS than I thought.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I OWS in Lake Michigan but never time myself. If swimming is truly about technique then my technique is terrible.

Starting -- hey glad to hear you have bronchitis!!!

Pappadj - 2007-07-14 2:13 PM Where did you guys meet at? I was there with jmcelroy by the picnic tables near the start and finish. Oh well. I had a good swim. For me it was more practice and working on getting comfortable. Take care all maybe I'll catch-up with some of you at another event.

pappadj - sorry I got there a little late and didn't get to meet you.  I guess you were the one I missed.  Sorry again.

I started a thread in tri talk if you want to see the list of who medaled.  mannyclow - congrats dude!  You got 3rd in AG too!

Tony - don't sweat your time, bro.  I had a similar time last year.  I'm very happy with my improvement since then but I'm still bottom 50% in this race.  Lots of good swimmers here.  You don't really get a lot of people signing up for a 2 mi swim if they don't know what they are doing.
