Subject: women are always right!??

so i'm playing pool with this girl last night.  i win the first game and tell her she has to rack 'em.  she's game so she does her thing without premable or fuss.  i look up and the balls are centered nicely but about 2" away from the back of the table.  i notice theres not one of those spots you usually see to put the 1 ball on.  so, ever the teacher, i show here the little diamonds along the side and how the ball should be about even with that second diamond.  i finish it up and we play some more.

she gets her turn racking the balls again and this next time i see the balls are in line with the second diamond but they are about 5" off center, obviously closer to one side of the table.  i glance quickly at her to get in on the joke, to watch her laugh and say "gotcha" but she looks back at me like "what?".  i probably got this incredulous "you gotta be kiddin me" look on my face and gesture to the balls.  she continues to not have a clue as to what i am concerned about.  so i say "the balls are completely off center, you have to put them in the MIDDLE of the table".  i mean, i know she has played this game before, it was her idea to do it.  she tells me "you didn't say nothin about the balls being in the middle of the table, you told me to line them up with that second diamond" as she walks to it and puts her finger on the very one i used when i "taught' her.  i tried about 2 times to interject a little common sense and logic into the discussion/debate before smarting up and just saying "yeah, that is what i told you".  she just gave me this fantastically nice smile with her head tipped back and watched as i re-positioned the balls.

the rest of the game went fine and i suffered no ill effects from the incident.  all i could do was laugh though because i couldn't help but wonder how many people win/lose perfectly winnable discussions when you get participants with decidedly different levels of rationalism.  (did i make that PC enough or what?) would love to see what the COJ crowd thinks of that.

Just apologise, shut up and do it your self. You will be much better off in the long run.

Take it from someone who knows.

If you want to carry on an arguement into infinitely nauseating timeframes, which will eventually end in frustrating semantics, then yes, the woman is always right. In some cases, the better part of valor (and timeliness) is to just admit you're to blame, you're wrong, or whatever, and move on.

My husband tells me that women aren't always right, its just that we always win. He says that you can't argue with someone who keeps changing the rules of the game.

I'll give you this....  She was wrong, but you were so not going to win the argument.  Besides, if you had, would you really have "won"?

Or tough to win when the woman resorts to "waterworks."

I occasionally show my wedding ring to my wife and say, "Just because I am married does NOT mean I am wrong."  (only use this when, without a shadow of a doubt, you are in the right)

Robert, if it helps, I'm wrong a great deal of the time.

And I'll even confess it to my girl friends.

Or, as the saying goes, "if a man is in a forest with no woman around, is he still wrong?"

You got to learn to pick your battles.

It's not the World Series of Pool your playing it a bar game with a girl. Who cares where she racks them, just be happy that she decided to rack them with you.

Instead of picking arguments do the cool cue stick twirling thing like Tom Cruise in Color of Money.  That one always gets me lots of chicks.  They think its hot!

As far as the rest of your post, I have no idea what you're talking about.  If you gave incomplete instructions the first time I don't see why you are blaming her.

Heh, you beat me to it, but my thought was "well, that's certainly no way to get laid."

I would rather be right, but I have restraint too. Especially when it comes to the fairer sex.

Because then you'll never have sex.
