Motivated, I've sped down a killer hill in my area and have reached the speed of 80Kph (49.6mph). I could have gone faster, but there is a STOP sign at the bottom of the hill and the road also comes to a dead end just beyond that. I am sure that I could top 50mph with a tri bike.

LOL @ "texas size hills" there Karl.  Come to New England...I hit 50 during my recent 1/2 IM, and without even trying...freewheeling down a NH hill.

So the answer is "yes".

but since you probably don't sprint downhills at 40 mph, (or are freewheeling when you DO hit those speeds)


actually, the fastest I've gone downhill was with you the last time we rode. I can't seem to get over 38 for the life of me. I'm goinna ride the 11-23 for a while and see how it works for me. The 12 - 26 is an option I'll keep handy.

When can we ride? I'd love to bring this bike up for some hilly riding with you. Unfortunately we're going to look like the Bobsey Twins riding together. Well, a tall and short version anyhow.
