Ok....you're nearing the end of your workout. You've got enough energy reserves to finish strong, but mentally you need something to push you over the edge. You've got this incredible mp3 player that has the ability to play any song that exists. What song cranks your brain up and motivates you to dig deep and keep going?

Here he comes
Here comes Speed Racer
He's a demon on wheels
He's a demon and he's gonna be chasin' after someone.

He's gainin' on you so you better look alive.
He's busy revvin' up a powerful Mach 5.

And when the odds are against him
And there's dangerous work to do
You bet your life Speed Racer
Will see it through.

Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer, Go!

The wheels on the bus go round and round.

Guess who was reading to the baby last night.

My wife won’t let me teach her football songs. Not after I took my boy on tour. He didn’t get the concept of “what goes on tour – stays on tour”.

Lara,

You and I are on the same wavelength. I'm constantly listening to Live and in particular their Throwing Copper album (one of the best albums out there), and lately I've been listening to a lot of Linkin Park.

The Crystal Method - Name of the Game

During marathon training last year, I had exactly the situation you were talking about on my first attempt at a 20 miler.  I had about 1.5 to go and was struggling.  I cranked that song up and finished strong.

Eminem - Lose Yourself, Linkin Park - Faint, etc....agnst and emotion to get the adrenline going!

max,

you mean its not the eye of the tiger remake for starbucks

LOL...Lara, that cracked me up during the Tour de France, I'd forgotten all about it.  Oh, and I'll also sheepishly admit to liking "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas.  I am so pathetic!

I like the following:
warmup - AC\DC "Hells Bells" seems to help me get a good pace going

running/cycling-
jars of clay, third day, johnny cash (Boy Named Sue- must be heard at least once daily), David Wilcox, Foo Fighters, Lyle Lovett

cooldown- Doobie Brothers - "it keeps you running"

A little random or eclectic but it keeps me going!

I don't listen to music while I'm doing a particular activity (running or biking) because I don't race with it so why train with it. But warm up music is very important to me. I often have to travel for my races here in Colorado and there are two CD's I play over and over again to get me pumped up

"Black Album," by Metallica. It's my favorite workout/warmup/race day CD. I play it all the time after my workouts. The whole album rocks.

"Dem Bones," by Alice in Chains. I have a single CD that plays the nearly 3 min song repeatedly. Boy it gets me pumped just thinking about it.

(Yes, I was probably the only black chick to follow Metallica on tour!!!!!)

Tulane - Chris Smither's version on Another Way to Find You

Go ahead on, Tulane
He can't catch up with you
Go Tulane
He ain't man enough for you
Go Tulane
Use all the speed you got
Go on Tulane
Boy you know you need a lot
Go Tulane, he's laggin' behind
Go ahead on

A few reasons: the lyrics, it's fast, and my last name rhymes with Tulane
