There are a couple thtat come to mind...

  • Take your mama. --- Scissor Sisters... a goofy song, but catchy!
  • Keep Yourself Alive --- Queen
  • Headlong --- Queen
  • Done --- (I'm pretty sure of the title? Could be Flip 'er Over) by Deep Blue Something.

I also favor music produced by angry white young men... such a Linkin Park, Disturbed, GodSmack, Trapt etc etc....

Like, Whizzer, I'm a fan of angry young white man music in general. The favorite motivation song, though, is "Far Behind" by Candlebox.

Being as how I saw ZZ Top last week. I can't get their tunes out of my head.
Not that that is ever a bad thing...

Casting Crown's "Who Am I?" really motivates me when I'm running and of course Elton John's Greatest Hits cd tops all!

Because it was the first rock album I ever owned...anything off Iron Maiden's Powerslave.

Especially "Aces High"!

I tend to get whatever song I was last listening to on repeat during the run...

  • ..except for the (thankfully) rare occasion when the Brady Bunch theme starts playing.

  • So whats the WORST song that you've gotten stuck in your head while working out?

    Worst song? That's easy!

A few years ago, as I was driving to an MTB race, a car stopped next to me at a red light and was blasting a merengue hip-hop kind of song that said: muuuu la vaca mmmuuuu la vaca (translation: the cow). I could not get it out of my head throughout the race, especially on the climbs. Not encouraging at all!

Motivation? Meatloaf's "everything louder than everything else" (or any other upbeat J. Steinman composition.) I'm also kinda partial to "Rods and Cones" by Blue Man Group.

The worst song? I did a race with Tiffany's "I think we're alone now" stuck in my head.

Here's to Roy Clark, Alison Krauss, Buck Trent and Steve Martin! Keep the rolls rolling and my feet shuffling!

Actually no FatMan...I played bluegrass banjo for 10 years.  Here's some great bluegrass tunes to train with:

    1.  "Jake Breaks"  by Karl Shifflet

    2.  "Snakes Alive" by Bela Fleck and the Dreadful Snakes

    3.  "Down In The Swamp" by Bela Fleck

    4.  "Grey Eagle" by Dan Crary

    5.  "I Know You Rider" by The Seldom Scene

No songs, just classical pieces that play inside my head to sort of compliment the surroundings:

    Vivaldi's "Four Seasons"
    Handel's "Royal Fireworks"
and various pieces by Mozart, Beethowen, and Bach

several, but first i have to share my husband's favorite for biking - they might be giants 'now you are old, and now you're even older, and now you're even older, and now you're older still'

top song as of late: ain't got time to play - guru
    army of me - bjørk
just a girl - no doubt
    ballroom blitz - (can't remember)
that pink song (better get the party started)
almost anything by karsh kale or mark farina

recently i tapped into more of the music from my college days, so its been lots of deee-lite and a tribe called quest (am i dating myself here?). i've had some pretty weird tribe lyrics stuck in my head lately, so no doubt those will be going through my head tomorrow ('don't tell me i can't tear it up. go get some toilet paper, 'cause your lyrics is butt' - lovely, no?)

Weird things come to my mind.

"My New Bicycle" by The Roches from their children's album when I'm riding my bike. Sometimes I start singing it out loud even.

When I'm running, more recently I've been thinking, "Corny as Kansas" from South Pacific because I have to perform it soon. It's the perfect rythym for running and landing evenly on both feet every three beats because it's in 3/4 time. During a really long run that starts to get old and my mind will wander, but then if I get worried about my pace, I just start it up again. I don't have an MP3 player. I used to think I'd love to run with one, but now I'm not so sure. I love the way my mind just goes into some kind of bliss and I think external music might detract from that.

good thing I have teenagers who find this stuff for me. I would never know of most of this stuff if not for them.  My son finds the most hysterical things done by Weird Al, like "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi."  OMG, it's hilarious even two years later.  Or the Jerry Springer song by Weird Al.  Funny stuff.
