Anyone interested in swimming next monday or tuesday at sassamat lake?

I got Leah to join me last night, she didn't hate it too much

Are suits required? I guess it is still pretty cold up there eh?

Are you just doing this until Alcatraz (June 3)? What time do you start?

Day or evening? I might be there in the morning one of those days, we'll see how I feel after Cultus.

I bought a wetsuit from Speed Theory yesterday when I was returning my rental from the Cultus Tri.  They gave me the rental for free since I bought one that day.   Are you doing Sassamat this coming Monday at 6pm?  (its the long weekend).

Well I just took the plunge, I have the entire triathlete outfit, tri shoes, tri bike and now a tri wet suit! I'm also tri-broke! Anyone going to Sassamat on Monday night at 6? I'd love to try out my suit, never swam in one so I figure it would be a good idea to have people around to call 911...just in case...

Thanks Mike. I'm going to sign up, despite the fact that I haven't swam at Sasamat yet this year and only once last year.

I'm going to head up there for 6:30, I think.  Give it a go.  I've eaten more than enough sugar today to get me through a swim, I hope.

This thing better be buoyant!

Me:

- Black (with a bit of red) Xterra Vector Pro2 wetsuit

-  tinted swim goggles

- light blue cap unless I can find my good white silicon one

- mostly shaved head

Thanks to ultramike for putting up with my slowness, whininess, and general lameness.

Sasamat's relatively cool, right now, I'd say.  It felt warm getting out of the water, but getting in was another story.  Also, I would consider earplugs next time I go because I found the cold water in my ears to be painful (never dealt with that before, was a bit unexpected).   Sun was shining and even though I swam poorly (basically my first REAL ows), it was pretty good out there.  Good times, good times.

Hey if you guys are going up on Monday, count me in. I'd love to put some faces to names and meet some local BT'ers. I swam on Sunday and it was @#&^$ COLD! Had to swim by myself so I took my wife with me so if there was a problem she could point to where the body was. How long did you swim for Mike? And how'd you like the suit? How's 6:30 next Monday sound?

haha

told you it was cold!

three words: neoprene swim cap

I'll plan for next Monday. I need to know the night before so I can have all my gear with me.

I was going to concede that to you privately to save face for those that didn't know that I shot my mouth off about it.  But yes, now that you've brought it out for everyone...I yammered about how warm Sasamat is (it IS in August!) and I will now eat my words.  Earplugs will be on the agenda next time.  I'll put some in my bag right now, actually.  There, they're in the bag.  The water's cold in June after a bunch of rainstorms and chilly weather.  I admit it.  I was wrong.

(better frame those last three words...it so rarely happens...not the admission, but the fact that I'm wrong

It's crazy because a few weeks ago when we were hitting mid 20's or near 30 everyday, the water had gotten SO warm. Now, it's back down a bit cooler again. Although, at least it's not freeze the feet cold like it was at the end of April.

Thanks to ultramike for putting up with my slowness, whininess, and general lameness.

Hey no worries.  I've been doing my Ironman training solo (17-20 hours a week).  Its nice to have some company for a change.
