Thanks for the encouraging words.

It's pretty cool here, debating on what I'm going to do tonight. My coach is an actual tri coach, so waiting to meet with him before starting any actual training regiment.

Should I swim again tonight? Or should I get out and try to run for 20 minutes? Haven't yet ran since firing back up, and my running shoes are ready to go.

Opinions?

Thanks.

never hurts to swim since it easy on the body...  Depending on what your weaker sport is i would train that.  A lot of newbies tend to train more where they are stronger, so if you are a weak swimmer i would say swim.  Swimming will also help your cardio.  Hope that helps

I'm seriously game if you are. Consider this your challenge Mr. Fireman, think you'll beat me in the water? haha

Going to try to get 30 min elliptical tonight then 30 min swimming. I realize I'll probably die in the pool, but it is more to get my stamina up.

Now that's a race I could win a podium spot in, for sure.

Have a great race, Brian!

Thanks gang - race is tomorrow and looks like it may be rained out - plus there is a strong rip tide so there is talk of canceling the swim (it's in the ocean). Hoping for good weather - I'm racing rain or shine....

Nice job John. Did a lot more than myself.

Spent most of the weekend preparing and being a part of my son's 3 year old birthday party. Ran for the first time Friday night (to which I am still sore) and swam 30 minutes Sat. night.

Really interested to see how it went for Brian.

Thanks.

Well. I do not have a HR monitor yet, and I didn't know the distance I ran. But I left from my house and took a route that led me back to the house. Ran continuous for 16 minutes, my quads where completely spent. I was spent. I was proud of myself for not stopping though.

I start training under my coach today as well as logging my nutrition for him to see. I'm excited about this, as having another person to report to will keep the motivation up. Just like you guys do.

So what is the plan for today?

Kevin

i have swam already, then i hope to get in about 30 mins of running...

here is a nice little tool you can use to map your runs/bikes...   BT uses the same thing when you put stuff into your log you click on "add new route" then you can map out your run/bike and you'll see how far you went... it's a great tool, i try to use it all the time

here is the website that i also use...    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

That is a neat little map. Looks like I ran about 1.6 miles.

yeah it's a great little tool....  you do this same thing in your log,  but sometimes the log on gets a little clunky, but it's nice to have the feature so you don't have to do it twice...

The race went well - finished 41 out of 111, you can see my race report. if you like Now I really got the bug and want to work on increasing speed/distance. I decided to do the Randolph Srpit Tri on the 8th of July, 1/2 mile swim, 16.4 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. That'll be good traning and fit into my Oly on July 22nd.

Today I biked 10 miles and will probably swim 30 minutes tonight - REALLY need to get more time in the water. Incidentially - you guys ever use a tehter? I have a small pool - about 20ft long and a swim tether but I'm not sure how good it is to use or if there's any special benefits/ problems with using them to train.

Thanks
-Brian
