Brian

Are you home???  Getting ready for NJ State???   i think Beginner Tri is going to have some sort of tent.  My club is hoping to have a tent (teamtriumph) so look for me at either tent.  I won't be there on Sat, i already got my packet.

I made it back! I will be at the NJ tri, had to drop to the sprint though due to lack of traning. I will look for you on Sunday - I'll be there Saturday to get my packet and take a look around.

See you soon.

Hey all. Hope everyone is doing well, catching up the reading and it appears you are.

Yeah, I fell off for a bit. Not sure why I let myself do that, but I did. Will be getting back into it, as well as I've offically stopped drinking alcohol. I'll spare ya details, but I've quit and (haven't yet) but will be attending AA. Just a personal monkey that has been on my back for quite sometime. Was doing well, and if you look at my training logs.. you can see where I let it take over again. damnit.

Anyway.

Did a 10 mile bike ride (first in forever) and of course felt great.

Also joining weight watchers online with the wife. We will see how that goes. haha

Sorry I missed you Greg too bad too - I read your log and saw you were alone, as was I (wife broke her toe).

You did GREAT - gratz on #1 in your AG! You're really fast.

I'm a mad at my time (1hr 19min 38sec) so I just signed up for the Buckman sprint on Sept 9th and then I'll do an Oly in October. Winter's hard for me on account of hunting takes up gobs of time but my Oly will be just to finish it strong, wihtout regard to time.

Hang in there Bug. Sounds to me like you know the right direction and your heading that way – you just took a few detours. I had a similar monkey on my back a few years ago and I kicked his , you can too - just hold the course.

Brian..  Greg and i missed you.... Greg found me...    Greg had a great race... Don't be upset at your time, that is a nice time for that course, bike had a lot of false flats and a few risers during the run.... nice work...... did you do a race report yet?

Hey thanks.  Just saw your comments on my RR too, thanks for that.  Yeah it was a good race for me.

Not sure how you could be mad at your time.  After all you spent the last month in Malta right?  Running around conference room tables just aint the same

I've got one more race planned too and it's on Sept 9.  The Annapolis Tri.  Thinking of trying a half marithon to finish the season, but that's undecided.

Hey, looking at your avitar i'm thinking I may have seen you there walking around during the awards ceremony.  Is that your bike?  If so, do you have a really colorful/funky jersey?  I tried looking up your number before the race but they still had you listed as in the Olympic so i didn't think it was up to date.

Anyway, nice job and good luck on the next one.

LOL - yeah I have a yellow softride (I'm building a new, Carbon Softride one with Zipp wheels and some other goodeis!) and yep, that's me with the funky/colorful jersey with the clown on it - I love that jersey, it's a Primal.

The only issue with my time is that I could have hit that bike course harder but I didn't drive it so I held back - I know I could have gone at least 10% more. I did my RR - it should be public, I will double check now.

thanks guys and good luck to you all too!

yeah, you don't see too many softrides and clown jerseys out there! that's some style, man. dang, i shoulda chased you down...next time.

i hear you on looking back with hindsight and thinking you coulda done more. we'll figure that out with experience. you would've been equally pissed if you went too hard and ran out of gas. i think it's probably a fine line we just need to figure out. I purposely tried to go harder on my swim (b/c i thought I slacked the previous races) and it got me nowhere fast! same bat-time as before.

Alright - I hired a swim coach and have ramped up traning. My question is, based on my logs - do you think I can do a HIM October 7th?

can you do it YES...  but you really need to build up that bike and run...  remember you'll be on that bike for about 3 hours, and your training doesn't even come close to that... you have only about a month and some, so i would but some big bike time in and of course some longer runs.   the race might hurt, but i think you can cross the line..

I agree, work has gotten a bit busy so I haven't had the time I need to put in.

You make a good point, plus that run would be HARD after that bike. I agree, it'd be a stretch for sure. I'm thinking now that I'll just stick to an Oly and then plan to do a HIM in the late srping of '08 so I don't over do it..
