I also found a spot where the local triathletes train hard in the winter. Robyn , they told me that they could squeeze you onto the team.  ScubaGator has mastered the naked ice swimming and he loves it.Detroit Tri Club

How about "TriOK"? People here know you as that. If you change, you start over completely with a new post count and people don't know you.

I do love the naked ice swimming (and I am soooo goood at it).

Ok, I could not let this go without menitoning it. My cousin is a big Dr. down in the nations capital. He has secured a luxury box for a Feb BON JOVI concert as a present for his wife's birthday. Me and Mrs. Gator will be headin down and Aaron will be so jealous when I rock out to his prom theme with a lighter held high......

I agree that you should keep triOK.  Just instead of Oklahoma, have it be OK! the expression.... It may confuse the BT gang too much, and if you move to other places after MI then you would have even more trouble.  triOKMIWACAGA or something like that is possible.    (Not that you'd keep moving around, but you never know.....)

Maybe I'm just dumb, but I always thought the OK was just that...OK.  Never had a clue it was for the state.  :P

I still like my suggestion.

Are any of you going to try to be mentors on the 2008 thread? I don't think I am ready for that, but Erik, Aaron, and probably Bob certainly are....

Robyn, will you mentor from the North???

I hope so. A smaller group as opposed to posting in the general forums is something nice to have during the season.

I'm sure things will get hopping again once the season starts. It seems training AND posting get's a little slow in the off season.

Hey gang....just wanted to let you know that I joined a January mentor group already!  No offense, as you all have been AMAZING this year and I never would have succeeded without you all.  You will all remain on my friends list and I will continue to watch and inspire you!!  I just found a group that really synched with my current needs, so I went with it.  It makes me sad to say goodbye to the group, but this way I will increase my BT family as well!

I hope to continue to receive inspires from you guys, too!  I will be watching your progress this year!!!!

Traitor!  LOL!

TriAya's great - you'll like her! Cool

I'm still planning on posting in here.  I agree with Rob that these small groups work great.  I may go ahead and start up a group as well for the fun of it.  If anyone was looking to join up with another group (not instead of Robyn's), I would also recommend ADollar79's.  I've learned a lot from his postings over the last year - Dan might say otherwise though! Laughing

Robyn and Heather,

How did White Rock Lake go?

:::hanging head in shame:::

I was too wimpy to go out in the bad weather to cheer on the runners. Hope you both had a great race!

Hi guys,

If you are bored, here is my RR from my 12k today.  I can't guarantee it will alleviate boredom, though!

That snow looks like fun!!!  We just have rain predicted here every day as far as they can forecast.  Another wet Christmas!  Hope you get some time to play, I know you are pretty busy most of the time.  Thanks for the pic!

You are wearing running shoes--were you heading out on a run? Awesome!!!

Sorry guys... I didn't forget about you... the ice storm has left me without power, a week later and I have little to no internet access for much of the day.

Yes, I am going to do another mentor group in January but I haven't gotten around to posting it yet.  Please feel free to stop in there and say hello!

Glad to see that everyone is doing well.  Keep up the great work and lets keep the momentum going through the new year!

Anyone doing anything exciting for Christmas??

Ours will be pretty quiet.  We have my mom coming over for dinner, then my brother and his family coming over later in the evening.  We then have our friends in Cincinnati coming over on Boxing Day (that's 12/26 for the uneducated) for a couple days.

No one from my wife's family is coming over this year, so she's really down about that (she's Irish if you didn't know).  Her mom was just here in November, and is now in Poland staying with my wife's bro and family.

The big event for us will be the Hannah Montana concert on 1/4!  Yippee.  Tongue out

Hope you all have a great Christmas!

Bob

Nothing too exciting... but I am going to Albuquerque for Christmas, then heading to Denver to go snowboarding for New Years.  It will rock, I am sure.

My family always celebrates on Christmas eve... we open presents that night and then sleep in the whole next day.  It works better that way, IMO.

I will be thinking of you all as I coast down the slopes over New Years!

Any good Christmas presents?

I got a $100 gift card from Fleet Feet, so I'll be getting some new shoes there.  I'm looking forward to actually getting fitted properly instead of telling the clueless kid at Dick's what I want.

Also got $100 from my wife's mom, so I haven't decided what to do with that yet.  Maybe some winter riding clothes.

The duds list is the 2 lbs of chocolate from my wife - that's a definite Undecided  and the Swiss Colony sausage and cheese tray from my mom.  Might be nice, but the box clearly says refrigerate upon receipt, and I estimate it was at her place 3-4 weeks sitting in the living room!  I think I'm going to wait for my brother to try his first!  Laughing

Had a good year--husband bought me full cycling gloves, a polarfleece shirt and a wool sweater that I really wanted.  Gift certificate and cash went to REI yesterday where I completed my cycling gear with new shorts (my first cycling-only shorts) and windproof pants, and a cycling jacket.  Then I went for a ride!  All I need is shoe covers, but I wore wool socks and didn't freeze too badly.  I'll be knitting myself a snug cap to wear under my helmet in order to use up some of the tons of yarn I have.  Hubby also bought me two packages of my favorite white chocolate truffles.  I could kill him.  It's like leaving drugs laying around a drug addict who really wants to quit.  Sigh.

Can't say I got much in the way of duds this year, except at a friend's white elephant gift exchange where I got some very dudley stuff, but that was the point.  We either drew names or agreed not to exchange with most of the adults so it was nice that way, to just enjoy each other's company without the obligatory stuff.  The kids got sooooo much stuff, our house is bursting at the seams.  But they are happy, so that's what it is all about.  Once we find places to store things, it will be better around here.  Am I a scrooge for wanting to take the tree down??

Now, if I could just stop eating the crap that is laying around.  One more day and that should be gone so I guess I will be better off then. I am going to do a detox with my naturopath and clear my system out--see if that jump starts my healthy eating plan for 08.  I have to throw my son a party on Jan. 5, as he turns 5 and demands we go to Chuck E Cheese.....after that, nothing crappy at all, nothing!!!!!
