Subject: Learning to suffer Triathlons drove me yesterday.
I went and did a Century ride yesterday that was really flat and averaged 18.1 miles/100 mile but mile 60 my quads started cramping like they have never cramped before. I tried to stretch them at the rest stop to no avail and finally figured out that if I stood and pedaled, that is would stretch them out a little and make the pain bearable.
The one thought in my head? "You have to finish this Jeff, what if you start hurting in a TRI?"
I ended up sucking wheel for 30 of the next 40 miles but I made it.
I'm learning to suffer, or learning that suffering is not really suffering, but pushing yourself to limits that you were too lazy to go before.
