I was just wondering whether new running shoes can cause knee pain? Has this happened to anybody? I've been happily training for my first marathon and had a couple of 18-mile runs under my belt when I start having knee pain soon shortly after I switched to a new pair of shoes.
I've heard that wearing worn out shoes can cause knee injuries, but what about the opposite?
How long has the knee pain been going on? Sometimes your body aches a bit when you switch shoes, even if it's to a "proper" pair of shoes. If it lasts more than a week, I'd ditch the shoes. Make sure you go to a running store that watches your stride and fits you into the proper shoes. Running that amount of distance on shoes not made for your feet can be bad!!!
I better get some new shoes then. For the past two months I've had pain, and I've attributed to me being a crappy runner. Bad enough that I feel it for days after a run. I'm gonna go get some shoes tonight. Let you all know how it works out.
Shoes did wonders for my shins but caused some other foot pain because they were stability shoes compared to neutrals. I am working through the new "discomfort" and getting my feet used to the support changes.
