It is almost comical how people will act with a certain level of bravado when given a microphone, but once they realize their schtick aint funny and they are about to arrested, they sing a different tune.  How different this could have gone down had he simply stopped jumping around like a Mexican Jumping Bean after the first two officers asked him to leave.

Plus, I don't know about you, but if someone is about to taser me, I wouldn't be calling them "bro."

I don't think this young man  was tasered. I think they used the taser as a stun gun. You can remove the cartridge that has the probes in it and then use the taser as a stun gun. He kept saying ouch that hurts, if he was tasered I don't think he would have been saying unintelligible words if not screaming.

 I have seen this incident from a different angle. It appears to me that a person in a business suit standing behind the kid instructed the officers what to do. The young man should have simply walked out with the officers and not gotten verbal and disruptive. He could have asked for an explanation out in a lobby area as to why he was cut off and he probably would have gotten one. Maybe not the answer he would have liked to have heard but I am sure he would have been told something.

They probably should've been able to get him out of there without incident, but he didn't help matters any by being belligerent.  I don't think this was police brutality - - excessive maybe.

The sad thing to me is that this jack a$$ will now sue and probably get a settlement. He will then become some pseudo-celebrity that people want to interview.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I have no love for Kerry, but why not use that opportunity to ask a REAL question - - instead of making a farce out of the thing?

Now it's time to watch him go down again!

Reminds of the student at the UCLA library that wouldn't show security his College ID Card.    So when they asked him to leave, he no and resisted their efforts  to force him out of the library.....think he got zapped also.

He had the chance to leave, but.....he had to go ONE STEP BEYOND...  Bbbzzzzzzttttt!

I don't believe this!?!  This poor schlep asks Kerry if he was a member of the Skull and Crossbones Secret Society in college, not a very relevant question but not the most inflamatory question either.  For this he is dragged off by a Nazi version of the Keystone cops and tazered ... and some of you guys think that is okay!?!  I guess that freedom of speech only exists in democratic states ...

Am I missing something?  It didn't seem like he was dragged off for the content of his question but rather for his disrespect of the forum he was in.  I admit I haven't read anything about this yet and just watched the video once, without being able to make out much on the sound. 

Jeez, when one of my kids jumps around yelling like that (not often) I make them sit in their room until they calm down.  How annoying.  If I was in that crowd I would have been offering the cop fresh batteries for the taser.  Shut up already, dude. 

I very rarely side with law enforcement in situations like this.  Did the police take it too far? Possibly. The guy kept pushing the issue.  Had he let the police escort him out then there would be no issue.  Instead he created the problem by running around, disobeying police orders and finally resisting arrest. It doesn't matter that he said he would leave, he was resisting and disobeying law enforcement. 

Their job in that situation is the control the crowd; they have a job to do.  If you were pulled over for speeding and kept refusing to give over your license and then went running around the car would you not expect the police to eventually use some sort of force to control you?  I am not saying it is right, but I would expect it.  And if I lay on the ground continuing to fight, then I would expect more...be in a knee to the back, taser, etc.   It is a judgment call by the officer at the time. 

They arrested and tasered him because he was not compliant to the commands the officers were giving.  That is it.  The student escalated the situation.  There is a freedom of speech but there is no freedom of standing in that forum and speaking.  He was asked to leave and behaved poorly.  His rights do not supercede all the rights of the people in the forum.
